June Alice Voisine

Mrs. Voisine, age 84 passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities.  June was born June 27, 1933 to the late Robert and      Alice (Dishaw) Bickham and has lived in Bay City her entire life.  She married her soulmate Ronald J. Voisine on August 25, 1956 and he predeceased her on July 8, 2015.  They lived and loved for 58 wonderful years together.  Together they raised their five children who are surviving: Mark (Gloria) Voisine, Shari (Bob) Stroope, Bob Voisine, Janet (Tom) Peterson and Nannette (Eric) Welter, ten grandchildren: Jeremy (Kristin) LaRoche, Erica (fiancé Pat) Voisine, Josh (fiancée Krystal) Voisine, Craig (Hollie) LaRoche, Samantha (Garrett) Neitzel, Amanda (Evan) Toyzan, Rachel (Marc) Roedel, Hannah, Hope and Halle Welter, six great grandchildren: Lesley, Isabella, Leah, Destiny and Kaidence LaRoche and Lennox Neitzel.  Also, surviving are her siblings: Joyce Louchardt, Bob (Betty) Bickham, Bill (Peggy) Bickham, a brother in-law Fred Voisine and a sister in-law Carol Bickham.  June was predeceased by her siblings, Mike Bickham and Mary Palmer, brothers in-law, Loyd Palmer and Jim Louchardt and a sister in-law Sue Campbell.

June loved many things in life, with family and animals being the most important to her.  She leaves behind her loving animals, her beloved dog Maude and cat Pollyanna whom she treated like her children.  June loved flowers and could keep a poinsettia alive until the following Easter with pride.  She had an infectious smile and personality that would light up the entire room.

A Celebration of her life will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate and private inurnment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm.

The Voisine family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Caretel Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and patience.

Emma B. Torberson

Remus, Michigan

         Emma passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Bay Shores Nursing Center, age 99.  She was born December 3, 1917 in Morton Township, Michigan to the late Edward and Elsie (Bauman) Simon.  Emma married Thor Torberson and he predeceased her on May 7, 1979.  She was a WWII veteran and served her country with the US Army.  Emma was a pharmacy assistant for many years until her retirement and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Remus.  She enjoyed quilting, baking and sharing her time and talents at St. Michael’s Church.

Surviving are six grandchildren: Terri Pelton, Russ (Denise) Zielinski, Dan Zielinski, Jayne Zielinski, Deb Wieland and Tami (David) Nowaczyk, 15 great grandchildren, many great great grandchildren, one sister Mary (Paul) Golupski and two sisters in-law, Helen Simon and Orlie Simon.  Emma was predeceased by her daughter Rose (Joseph) Zielinski and siblings: Helen (Mark) Bott, Jack Simon, Arnold (Lela) Simon, Bernice (Melvin) Wonch, Edward Simon, Donna (Ken) Helms, Frank Simon and Theresa (Bill) Weber.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5045 Nine Mile Road Remus, MI 49340.  Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass.  Inurnment will be in Wambold Cemetery.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

Cecelia R. Zuraw

Zuraw0003Cecelia R. Zuraw was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Bay County Medical Care Facility surrounded by her loving family, age 96 years. She was born on Thanksgiving Day November 25, 1920 in Detroit to the late Felix and Martha (Haranda) Szymczak. Cecelia married Walter A. Zuraw on October 9, 1943 in St. Mary’s Church on 9 Mile. He predeceased her January of 1964. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Rosary/Altar Sodality and was on the church prayer line. Cecelia in her early years helped her parents operate the 9 Mile Store in Pinconning. She along with her husband Owned and Operated Walt’s Bar in Gagetown. Cecelia had a interest in music  especially polka music and played the accordian in her early years. Cecelia and her special friends would often go for lunch or rides to enjoy their company.  Her true passion was spending time with all of her family. Surviving are five children, Janet Bruessow; Patrick (Valerie) Zuraw; David Zuraw; Mary (Lester) Fritz; James Zuraw; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and three great – great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters in-law and  brother in-law, Clara Zuraw; Helena Szymczak; Edward (Barbara) Zuraw, nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by son, Thomas; son in-law, Peter Bruessow; granddaughter, Peggy Smith;  brother, Chester Szymczak,  sister, Irene (Felix) Sobieray, in-laws Leo & Charlotte Zuraw, John Zuraw, and Helen & Bernard Boensch.  Grateful thanks to all the BCMCF Caregivers.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Fr. Rick Filary will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Alice H. Mead

Mead was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Sheffield Bay surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 87 years.  She was born July 7, 1930 in Bay City to the late Adam and Mary (Buczek) Bladecki.  Alice married Lloyd L. Mead on September 9, 1950 at St. Hedwig Church and he survives her.  She retired from the Clawson Concrete Company formerly the Robert Gage Readi Mix and Robert Gage Coal Company.  Alice was a member of Corpus Christi Parish – St. Hedwig Church.  Alice and Lloyd enjoyed family activities.  They also liked traveling and their most recent trips were to Las Vegas.  Surviving besides her husband Lloyd, she leaves a son and a daughter, Thomas (Julie) Mead; Tricia Mead; two grandchildren, Geoffrey (Kathi) Mead; Zoya Mead; and a great – grandson, Henrik Mead.  Also surviving is a sister and a brother, Joyce Klug; Robert Bladecki; two brother’s in-law, Jerry Schmidt; James Steinhoff; a sister in-law, Pat Bladecki and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Virgil Bladecki; a brother in-law, Larry Klug and a sister in-law, Belva Bladecki.  The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sheffield Bay who provided the highest quality of care for Alice.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Corpus Christi Parish – St. Hedwig Church.  Fr. Frank M. Tomaszewski

     Our beloved father, grandfather and friend too many who knew him passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Carriage House of Bay City, age 86.  Frank was born September 11, 1930 in Bay City to the late Michael and Helen (Malowinski) Tomaszewski.  He married Lois P. Wilson on November 27, 1954 in Holy Trinity Church and she predeceased him on March 10, 2015.  Frank worked for the City of Bay City, Water Department and retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service.  He was a faithful and devoted member of Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, where he help run the St. Vincent DePaul Society – St. Mary’s Food Pantry with his wife Lois.  Frank enjoyed playing with his dog Buddy and sharing stories with his friends over a cold beer or two.

Surviving is his daughter Linda Hildebrant, one granddaughter Mikayla Hildebrant, one great grandson Jayce, one sister in-law Barbara Jaynes, a nephew Roger (Michelle) Jaynes, great nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Greg, Karrie, Kyle and a very good friend Tom Pawlak.  Frank was predeceased by four brothers: Floyd (Val), George (Bertha), Al (Tina), twin brother Joe (Frances) and Adam, two sisters, Marie (Alex) and Lottie and a brother in-law Gary Jaynes.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church.  Fr. Lila M. Beiser (Brownlee)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Auburn Fields Assisted Living, age 86.  Lila was born January 24, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William and Veronica (Kloha) Arnold.  She married Carl E. Beiser on April 28, 1951 and he predeceased her on August 1, 1981.  Lila later married Glenn E. Brownlee and he predeceased her on December 10, 2007.  Lila retired on November 22, 2005 from Monitor Township as their Fire Dispatcher and receptionist after several years of dedicated service.  She was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan and enjoyed playing bingo and handing out Dum Dum suckers to the great grandchildren.

Surviving are seven children: Ronnie (Randy) Bingham, Connie (Bob) Booth, Patsy (Wayne) Courier, Thomas (Mary) Beiser, Kim (Deb) Beiser, Linda (Tom Horschig) Beiser and Pam (Todd) Schweitzer, three step daughters, 31 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and one sister in-law Jane Arnold.  Lila was predeceased by a great grandson Beau Snyder, one brother Dennis Arnold and three sisters: Floraine DePrekel, Luella Bissonette and Betty Parent.

The Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Matt W. Place will officiate and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday after 10:00 am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”
