John F. Blanchard, Jr.

Blanchard John photo878Mr. Blanchard, age 74 years, passed away peacefully with family by his side the afternoon of June 16, 2017 at Toni and Trish House of Auburn, Michigan.  John was born on July 4, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John F. and Beatrice (Rabadue) Blanchard, Sr.  John was a member of the Kawkawlin Community Church and he was a hardworking, independent, determined individual his entire life.  He would frequently watch the big ships and freighters as they came down the Saginaw River.  He was also a woodcarver and hand carved a replica of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, which his family cherishes to this day.

Surviving family members include his siblings and their families: Mitchell (Louise) Blanchard, Stewart Blanchard, Daisy (Marty) Sanders; a special niece Kim (Mike) Bilyk; niece and nephews Tami (Brian) Hock and Bill (Fran) Blanchard, Earl Blanchard and special great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

We would like to thank Heartland Rehabilitation Center for all of the care and friendships that were made following his surgery in January.  We would like to thank his special, helpful neighbor Ron, as well as other friends in the neighborhood.

His friend Aprill Blanchard and faithful canine companion, “Princess”, also survive him.  Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice and brother-in-law Harley Shook and his nephews Bud Winchell and Harold Blanchard.

John’s wishes were to be cremated.  There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Nancy Rivet will officiate.  Memorial contributions in John’s honor may be made to Toni and Trish House, 4699 11 Mile Rd., Auburn, Michigan 48611
