Rita Rosalie Gielda

Rita was called home by her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living surrounded by her loving family at the age of 87.  She was born April 9, 1929 in Bay City to the late Frank and Beatrice (Abeare) Sobczak.  Rita married Arthur Gielda on November 5, 1949 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  He predeceased her January 9, 1991.  Early on Rita worked at Prestolite and later retired from Palmer Oil Company.  Rita was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Senior Citizens, the bingo committee and the League of Catholic Women and Men.  She bowled on the Senior League at Alert Lanes for many years and was a gold and bronze medalist in bowling in the Senior Olympics. One of Rita’s proudest and greatest achievement was receiving her High School Diploma later in life.  Rita truly loved spending her time watching and attending all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren events and activities.

Surviving are her four children, Nancy Rita Gielda, James Arthur (Yolanda) Gielda and their three children, Erica, Amanda (Ricky) Pudvan, Justin & his fiancé Jasmine; Peggy Ann (Edward) Martin and their children, Grace & Alex; Andrew George (Julie) Gielda and their children, Claudia & Clairissa and seven great grandchildren, Lucas, Alyssa, Preston, Savanna, Maya, Oliver and Maverick.  Also surviving is a sister, Monica Szczepanik, a sister in-law, Leona Gielda and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three sisters; Florence (Richard) Harris, Patricia (Floyd) Wieszczecinski, Colleen “Theresa” Sutkowi; one brother, Donald Sobczak; her mother in-law and father in-law, George and Victoria Gielda, four brother’s in-law, Aloysius “Mike” Szczepanik, Aloysius, John and Julian Gielda; two sister’s in-law,  Bernadine Gielda and Edwina (Frank) Lada.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church (1503 Kosciuszko Ave.).  Fr. Richard Filary will officiate and interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday after 9:00 a.m.  Members of the Parish will pray the Rosary at 2:00 p.m. Thursday followed by a Vigil Service for Rita at 7:00 p.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

The Gielda family would like to thank all the staff at Brookdale Senior Living and McLaren Hospice for their kind and compassionate care they gave Rita and her family as well.

Geraldine “Geri” Gwizdala

gwizdala-photo784Geraldine Gwizdala died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities at the age of 79 years.  She was born February 28, 1937 in Bay City to the late Max and Clara (Wlodarczak) Gwizdala.  Geri worked at Bay Cast for many years before retiring.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, going out with her social groups including Group 5 and the Birthday Club.  Geri was a member of the American Foundry Society.  Surviving is a sister in-law, two nieces and a great nephew.  Also surviving are two dear friends, Loretta Hebert, Cindy Hildinger, special neighbors, Jenny and Rod Goff and their family and many other close friends and relatives.  She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Gwizdala.  The family would like to thank the staff at Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities and Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care given to Geri.  Funeral Service will take place on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Dc. Stanley Kuczynski will officiate with private entombment in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Donna L. Coones

Coones picDonna L. Coones was called home by her Heavenly Father with her loving family by her side on the evening of Tuesday January 24, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region, age 74. She was born on September 17, 1942 in Copper Harbor, Michigan to the late Arthur and Eve (Petterson) Mahaffay. Donna married Roger Coones in the former St. Joseph Catholic Church on February 18, 1961. The Lord blessed them throughout their 56 years of marriage with four lovely children, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, loved the Lord with all her heart, and sought to serve Him in all ways. The Book of Psalms was her favorite book of the Bible and the Sermon On The Mount, her most cherished Biblical teaching. She will be most remembered for her gracious and generous heart. She served the Lord best by serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Huron Woods Nursing Center and The Carriage House for over thirty years. She also volunteered for the Department of Human Services and the American Red Cross as part of the Disaster Team. Donna was always willing to feed, clothe, and give resources to those in need. Besides her husband Roger, Donna is survived by her daughters Rita Coones and Kimberley (Carl) Weaver; her son Roger Coones, II; grandchildren Gregg, Sarah, Joshua, Shawn, Milissa; great-grandchildren Dakota, Breawna, Alexa, Kiarra, Colton, Leah, Aubree, Ryleigh, Emmber; her sisters Charlotte Coyer, Jackie Davies and brother Dennis Mahaffay. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Donna Jean and brother, Daniel. No visitation through the funeral home is planned at this time. Family and friends will gather at the Floral Gardens Cemetery Chapel for Committal prayers on Friday January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Joel Pankow will preside with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery immediately following. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the American Red Cross.

 

Eugene M. Rabadue

rabidue-photo066Eugene Rabadue passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 76.  He was born June 20, 1940 in Bay City to the late Roy M. and Celia P. (Cole) Rabadue.  Gene married the former Lynda A. Walker on June 24, 1961 in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church and she survives him.  He previously worked at DeFoe Ship Yard, Prestolite for 21 years, York Electric for 3 years and late retired from Northern Tube after 16 years of service.  Gene enjoyed taking drives in his motor homes, woodworking, taking pictures and videos, playing cards and taking care of his roses.  Gene was a very hard working conscientious man who could master anything he set his mind to.  Family especially his grandchildren always came first for Gene.  Surviving besides his wife Lynda, he leaves four sons, Roy M. (Nancy), William J. (Vicky), Eugene M. Jr., and Michael J. Rabadue; seven grandchildren, Stephanie K., Dustin J., Joseph M.Rabadue, Charlette R. (Tyler) Doyle, Chelsea M., Casey D., Jacob M. Rabadue; and five great grandchildren, Alexia R. and Dylan T. Horton, Cecelia R. and Tyler J. Jr. Doyle and Phoenixx C. Rabadue.  Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Robert M. (Sandi) Rabadue, Gerry L. Rabadue, Patricia (Gaylord) Maxwell and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Linda Studniarz will officiate with burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday after 10:00 a.m.   Those planning and expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Robert Joseph Davidson, Jr. “Joe”

Our beloved father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region, age 64.  Robert was born October 23, 1952 in Bay City to the late Robert J. and Virginia (Wheeler) Davidson, Sr.  He was employed with Monitor Sugar for several years and later retired as a truck driver for Dunkin Donuts.  Robert enjoyed fishing and trying his luck at casinos.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren which will forever have wonderful memories to hold in their hearts of happy times and stories he shared.

Surviving is one son Robert J. (Ashley) Davidson III, his mother Dawn Davidson, two beautiful grandchildren, Riliegh and Cameron Davidson and a special friend and brother in-law Ray Klopp.

Per Robert’s wishes cremation will take place.  No visitation or services are scheduled at this time.

Rosalyn D. Kaznowski

Rosalyn “Rose” D. Kaznowski was called home by her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 16, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region surrounded by her loving family. She was 92.  She was born on May 18, 1924 in Chicago, IL to the late Albert J. and Mary E. (Lee) Stone.  Rose married Leo A. Kaznowski on November 17, 1945 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church.  He predeceased her on February 18, 1994.  She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where she was a member of the Rosary/Altar Society, the Felician Sisters’ Auxiliary, the Legion of Mary, the League of Catholic Women and Men, and served as a funeral luncheon team leader.  She worked at St. Stanislaus Kostka School, and served as housekeeper for the St. Stanislaus Kostka Rectory. She was also a member of TOPS Chapter 1059 and a quilting club.  Rose enjoyed clogging, line dancing, trips to the casino, and was very faithful in crocheting prayer shawls on Thursdays at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

Rose truly cherished family gatherings and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  Surviving are five children: Barbara (Jim) Tesner, Michael (Kathy) Kaznowski, Roseann (Bill) Hellebuyck, Mary Little, and Patricia (Paul) Galus. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and three new babies on the way.  She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Arlene Stone, Julie Piesik, Theresa Weber, and Donna Kaznowski, a brother-in-law, Clarence Mikolajczak, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Glen and Bernard Stone, and Alice (James) Ratajczak, a son-in-law, Ron Little, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mary (Eugene) Netkowski, Eva (Stanley) Slezak, Joan Mikolajczak, John, Clement, Erwin, Adolph, Steven (Isabelle), Stanley (Diantha) Kaznowski, Victor Piesik, and Fabian Weber.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 1503 Kosciuszko, Bay City 48708.  Fr. Rick Filary will officiate, with burial to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 9:00 a.m.  Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary/Altar Society and the Felician Sisters Auxiliary will pray the Rosary Friday at 2:00 p.m., followed by a parish vigil service for Rose at 7:00 p.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church or St. Labre Indian School.
