Jeanne M. Harris

harris-photo450Jeanne was called home by her Lord on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Bay Medical Care Facility, age 92.  She was born December 16, 1923 in Bay City to the late Ernest and Clara (Cerny) Moore.  Jeanne was valedictorian of the class of 1941 of St. Mary’s High School.  She married Robert R. Harris July 12, 1944 and he predeceased her November 1, 1986.  In Jeanne’s early years she worked at Cook Coffee as head bookkeeper and later worked at Triple Clean Laundromat.  She enjoyed knitting, baking, sewing, gardening but her true conviction was putting her family first.  Surviving are three children; Anne Harris, Carole Wright, Michael (Kathy) Harris, a daughter-in-law, Sue Harris, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son, John Harris, a daughter, Colleen DeVille, a son-in-law, Rob Wright, one sister and a brother, Virginia O’Brien and Clifford “Jerry” Moore.  The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Bay Medical Care Facility 1 East for their compassionate Care given to Jeanne over the years.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Peace Church.  Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate with inurnment in Calvary Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church only on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass.   In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Our Lady of Peace Church.

Robert James Langley

     Robert, 63, son of the late Vernard and Joan (Palmer) Langley, father of David and grandfather to Kaiden and Emily passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from complications from lung cancer at McLaren Bay Region.

In his early adult years Bob worked and also was a self-taught jack of all trades.  He had a great interest in refurbishing an array of vehicles and also did many DIY household projects.  For nearly 35 years, Bob lived with paranoid schizophrenia.  Even thou he had that hardship, he always maintained a very generous, kind and gentle heart.

Surviving is a son David (Kari) Langley, David’s mother, Cathy Luce, grandchildren, Kaiden and Emily, siblings: Nancy (Steve) Lawrence, Peggy (Michael) Douponce and Karen (Tom Hyde) Gunther, brother in-law, Brad Grevel, eleven nieces and nephews, many friends and extended family.  Robert was predeceased by a sister, Diane Grevel.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera will officiate and interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday after 10:00 am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

Thomas E. Jacobs

Mr. Jacobs, age 83 passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Toni and Trish House.  He was born November 20, 1932 in Essexville to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Vink) Jacobs.  Thomas married the love of his life, Anna M. Kraynak on February 9, 1952 and they celebrated their 65th anniversary this year.  In 1952, he served in the Korean Conflict as a demolition specialist.  Tom loved building homes and spending time with his sons and grandson, Chad, deer hunting and fishing.  He also loved listening to polkas on Sunday mornings.  In 1993, he retired from General Motors as a millwright.

Surviving besides his wife Anna are four sons: Alan (Diane), Robert (Cindy), Randy (Cherie) and Jeffrey Jacobs, seven grandchildren: Chad, Kristel (Craig), Christopher (Karen) Kevin (Betsy), Cody, Troy and Michael, six great grandchildren: Oakley, Boyer, Macie, Brady Jacobs, Nash and Kinsley Pfenninger and Briggs.  Tom was predeceased by a beloved daughter Denise Jacobs, a daughter in-law, Ruth Ann Jacobs, six brothers: Albert, Wilfred, Clarence, Virgil, Donald and Raymond Jacobs, four sisters: Eleanor Walther, Regina Walther, Ailene Lynch and Elizabeth Davis, two step-brothers and sister: Norbert and Erwin Nearing and Edith Sisson.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at All Saints Parish-St. James Church.  Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera will celebrate Mass and Military Honors under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council will follow Mass outside of church.  Private inurnment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and at church on Friday after 10:00 am.  A Parish Vigil Service for Tom will be held Thursday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Toni & Trish House or All Saints Parish.

Linda Kay Knight

knight-photoLinda Kay Knight of Bay City passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 23, 2016. She was 72 years old.  Born on February 22, 1944 in Kansas City, MO, she was the oldest of six children.  She moved to California when she was 18 years old where she worked and volunteered at the Naval Serviceman Center in San Diego, CA where she met her husband.  On August 12, 1966, she married James C. Knight with whom she had six children.  A California girl at heart, she and her husband moved from California to North Carolina and then finally settled down in Bay City, MI in 1968.   She is survived by her husband, Jim, her six children: Hannah (Chris) Peterson, Jeremiah Knight, Rachel (Michael) Delmont, Isaiah (Tara) Knight, Nathan Knight, and Megan (Jesse) Bares, four grandsons: Noah, Hunter, Owen, Graysen, and three granddaughters: Lucy, Penelope, and Baby Delmont.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Daniel, her granddaughter Jordan, and her sister Sharon.

Linda loved to laugh and spend time with her family and pets.  She was a lover of drawing, shopping, ice cream, and the occasional Lifetime movie feature.  She spent all of her life dedicated to her family – raising her children and adoring her grandchildren. She loved to go on walks with her husband, cheer for Duke Basketball, always had to pay a little extra for a waffle cone, and could never pass up a garage sale.   Linda was also a fighter.  She never allowed challenges in her life to dictate her happiness and had an incredible spirit of hope and trust in God that will be dearly missed.   A private memorial service will be held for family members only.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society of Bay County.

John J. Carr

John J. Carr was called home by his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region surrounded by his family age 85.  He was born April 30, 1930 in New Haven Connecticut to the late Francis and Rita (Flanagan) Carr.  He married the former Joan L. Christensen on August 24, 1957.  She predeceased him August 6, 2001.  John served in the U.S. Army and later retired from the Bay City Social Security Office as District Manager after many years of service.  He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church and a lifetime member of the K of C Council #414.  John like to read but most importantly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Surviving are seven children; Mike (Cindy) Carr, Tom Carr, Mary (John) Witt, Kathleen (Bob) VanPelt, John Carr Jr., Theresa Carr, Patricia Carr, six grandchildren; Elisabeth & Viktoria Carr, Deidre Hurse, Brad, Tom and Vincent VanPelt .  Also surviving are three brothers; Frank (Pat) Carr, Ed and Bill Carr.  He was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Carr.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church.  Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate with private inurnment in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 10:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Cure Pancreatic Cancer.

Helen S. Doyle

    doyle-photo446 Helen S. Doyle passed away peacefully Friday, April 22, 2016 at Medilodge of Rochester Hills, age 94.  She was born November 21, 1921 in Washington to Benjamin and Zella (Sischo) Borsheim.  She retired from St. Mary’s of Michigan in their respiratory therapy department.

Helen is survived by a son, Larry (Jean) Morse, two daughters, Janice (Roger) Scott and Lois (Dee) Thompson, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Helen was predeceased by a daughter Jean Marie and two brothers; Louis and Frank Borscheim

The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Squires Funeral Home.  Rev. Dwight W. Kingsbury will officiate and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.
