Myrtle Troxell

troxell-photoMyrtle Troxell at the age of 79 was called home by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region.  She was born April 19, 1936 in Flint Michigan to the late Maxim and Ruth (Shaw) Legue.  Myrtle married Keith Troxell and he predeceased her.  She worked for various places throughout her life and her last job was with Ponderosa where she worked for many years.  Myrtle was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  Myrtle truly loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She was born with having eight brothers and six sisters.  Surviving are three children; Timothy Troxell, Terry (Yolanda) Troxell, Ruth Troxell, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  Also surviving are close family members, Marshall & Gerry Burd0n and David & Robin Gwizdala.  She was predeceased by a son, Marshall Troxell.  A Graveside Service for Myrtle will take place on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. from Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Pastor Jeff Temple will officiate.  Calling hours will be at the cemetery only.

Gerald T. Billette was called home by his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 30, 2016 surrounded by his family at the Caretel Inns age 78 years.  He was born February 28, 1937 in Bay City to the late Myrle and Nellie (Phillips) Billette.  Jerry married the former Joy K. McCollum on November 30, 1957 and she survives him.  He worked for Means Industries for many years working his way up to Vice President before his retirement.  Jerry was a gifted wildlife artist and his paintings are treasured by family and friends.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, being a member of Ducks Unlimited but most importantly he truly loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren.  Surviving besides his wife Joy, he leaves three children; Cindy (Brian) George, Kelly Sue Billette, Kyle Billette, six grandchildren; Jennifer (Ryan) Quinn, Gregg (Jennifer Macal) George, Evan (Laura) George, Allison George, Jacob & Joshua Billette,  and two great-grandchildren; Declan and Emily Quinn.  Also surviving is a brother, Kermith (Shirley) Billette, many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Mazie.  He was predeceased by a son, Gregg Billette and a brother, James Billette.  Cremation has taken place and there will be a private memorial service that will be announced at a later date.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Bay County Humane Society.

Doris S. Good-Herron

Good-Herron passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, January 29, 2016 at her home age 87 years.  She was born March 9, 1928 in Bay City to the late Alfred and Myrtle (Johnson) Hasenburg.  Doris married Marvin L. Good and he predeceased her October 28, 1993.  She then married Donald Herron and he also predeceased her.  Doris worked at the former Kreske and later retired from the K-Mart.  She enjoyed playing bingo, going on casino trips but most of all spending time with her family.  Surviving are four children; Linda Hadd, Ray (Kay) Good, Marvin (Carol) Good, Duane (Judith) Good, twenty four grandchildren, fifty seven great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving are two sisters; Shirley Jones, Ida Hayes, two sister’s in-law; Evie Hasenburg, Eva (Lowell) Myrick and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two children, five brothers; Elmer, Bud & Arnold Brenay, George and Alfred Hasenburg.  Per Doris request cremation has taken place with inurnment in Heavenly Rest Cemetery.  There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Charles J. Schmidt

     Charles passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his home while a sleep, he was just 41.  The son of Charles F. and Nancy L. (Hine) Schmidt he was born on July 26, 1974 in Bay City and has lived here all of his life.  Charles married Krystalina M. Allen on June 30, 1995 in Bay City and she survives him.  Charles was a tax preparer for 20 years and currently owned and operated Shoebox Tax and Accounting Service with his wife for the past three years.  Back in Charles’ teenage years he enjoyed being a member of the Civil Air Patrol and would not pass up an opportunity to take a little trip in an air plane at James Clements Air Port.  He was also an on-line gamer and liked to listen to music, assemble models and target shooting.

Surviving is his wife of 21 years, Krystalina, one daughter, Autumn Rolon, his mother, Nancy Barrett-Lesniak, grandmother, Doris Chamberlain, one brother in-law, Jamison (Molina) Allen, two sisters in-law, Jeanine (fiancé, Scott Huckins) Allen and Jeanelle (life friend, Ian Treadway) Allen, several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.  Charles was predeceased by his father, Charles F. Schmidt and a sister in-law, Robbyn Lumbert.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor David Ferranti will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Thursday after 1:00 P.M.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

Stanley Puralewski

puralewsli-photo344Stanley Puralewski age 85 years was called home by his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region.  He was born April 18, 1930 in Bay City to the late Andrew S. and Mary (Dziubek) Puralewski.  Stanley graduated from Bay City Central High School.  He married the former Rita L. Glaza, March 31, 1951 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and she predeceased him January 26, 2004.  Stanley served his country in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from 1951 – 1953 and retired from Bay City Chevrolet after over 47 years of service.  He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, St. Stan’s Men’s Club, Brother Beavers, The American Legion and the U.A.W. Local #362 retirees.  Stan was an avid bowler, he enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to the Casino and gardening.  Surviving are two children;  Susan (Bob) Morrissey of Colorado, John S. (Judy) Puralewski of White Lake, Michigan, two grandchildren;  Andrew Puralewski, David (Tracy) Morrissey and six great-grandchildren;  Isabella, Tyler and Dillon Morrissey, Ricky, Trey and Nicholas Kalbaugh.  Also surviving is a sister, Esther Zielinski, a sister-in-law, Leona Lijewski and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by three sisters;  Irene Burzynski, Cecil Sporman, Terri Piotrowski, two brothers;  Efrim and Hugo Puralewski.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. from Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Rick Filary will officiate followed by Military Honors by the Bay County Veteran’s Council.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. and at the Church on Saturday after 9:00 A.M.  There will be a Parish Vigil Service for Stan at 7:00 P.M. Friday.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Salvation Army of Bay City.



Vermelda Fischer

Vermelda passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region surrounded by her family, age 81.  She was born October 11, 1934 in Tuscola County, Michigan to the late Emery and Erma (Haskill) Gainforth.  She married Ernest Carl Fischer, Jr. on April 23, 1957 in Wisner United Methodist Church and he predeceased her on August 23, 1988.  Vermelda was a graduate of Unionville High School in 1952 and a home health care aide for many years.  She was a member of Wisner United Methodist Church for 66 years and enjoyed camping, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are seven children: Rebecca (Bill) Faller, Cindy Fischer, Susan (Neil) Schumann, Linnaea (Mark Ewald) Fischer, Steven (Lauri) Fischer, Harvey (Kelly) Fischer, and Treasa Fischer-Ross, sixteen grandchildren: Shannon, Melissa, Mark David, Stephanie, Cameron, Justin, Joshua, Jolyn, Nathan, Jordan, Jackson, Zoe, Jake, Karley, Kaelyn and Joslin, ten great grandchildren: Audrey, Jillian, Charlie, Maggie, Mason, Montanna, Reed, Emma, Easton and Luke, one brother, Myron (Maxine) Gainforth, one sister, Janine Heberling and a sister in-law, Regina (Paul) Woods.  Vermelda was predeceased by a daughter, Charlinda Kent, one sister, Zelda Gainforth, one brother, Byron Gainforth, her brother in-law, John Heberling and a sister in-law, Marion Behlander.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at Wisner United Methodist Church, 5375 Vassar Road, Akron, Michigan 48701.  Pastor Jackie Rainieri will officiate and interment will be in Hickory Island Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and at church on Thursday after 10:00 am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”
