Joseph Thompson Burks

Burks was called home by his Lord on Friday, July 25, 2015 while at McLaren Bay Region Hospital at the age 68 years.  He was born July 24, 1948 in Muskegon, Michigan.  Joseph was a former member of Second Baptist Church.  He enjoyed playing basketball and achieved the honor of All State in 1966, as he led the state in scoring.  He also was a great baseball player where he was recognized by a professional league team.  Joseph was an avid artist that enjoyed cars.  He produced music as well.  Surviving is his mother, LaVern J. (Cornwell) Burks, three sisters, Essiline Pickette, Martha Burks, Florice Williams, two brothers; Albert (Kathryn) Burks, Frederick (Michelle) Burks, step-son, Jimmy Brown and family, special friend, Jewery Curry and her family several uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Funeral and committal service will take place Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

zawacki-photoElizabeth Zawacki age 88 years was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday July 27, 2015 with her daughter by her side.  She was born June 10, 1927 in Alger, Michigan to the late Leonard and Kate (Biel) Bialobrzeski.  Elizabeth married Carl Zawacki and he predeceased her August 12, 2007.  She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church and enjoyed gardening and cooking.  Surviving is her daughter, Mary Ann Zawacki and one brother, Al (Helen) Bialobrzeski.  She was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Hyacinth Church.  Fr. James G. Heller will officiate with burial in Resurrection of the Lord Cemetery in Standish.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 – 5 p.m. and at the church on Friday after 12 noon.  Members of St. Hyacinth Church will pray the rosary at 3:00 p.m. Thursday.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Marion S. Sielinski

One family chain has been completed and another one has been broken.  Marion S. Sielinski passed away Monday July 27, 2015 at the age of 92.  He was born April 1, 1923 in Bay City to the late Casimer and Hattie (Kasprzyk) Sielinski.  Marion married Madeline V. Keit on August 31, 1948 and she survives him.  After honorably serving his country in the U.S. Army and receiving four Bronze Stars for his service, Marion began working for Dow Chemical Bay City.  He retired in 1978.  Marion was a member of Corpus Christi Parish – St. Hedwig Church.  He was also a member of AMVETS and enjoyed carpentry.  Surviving besides Madeline, he leaves four children to cherish his memory: Marion M. Sielinski, Carol Sturtz, Mark Sielinski and Bonnie (Tom) Tippman; seven grandchildren: Stacey Sturtz and fiancée Shannon, Lisa (Mike) Pyman, Brent (Carrie) Sturtz, Andrea (Duane) Stone, Adam, Catherine and Keith Tippman; three great-grandchildren: Allison and Sierra Pyman and Jacob Sturtz.  He is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Marie Kaczmarek and Irene Mindykowski.  His grandson, Kirk Tippman predeceased him as well as seven sisters and three brothers.  Marion’s family will be present to receive visitors at Squires Funeral Home on Thursday July 30, 2015 from 2-7 p.m. with Military Honors and Funeral Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Entombment will take place on Friday July 31, 2015 at 12 noon at Oakwood Mausoleum in Saginaw.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the wishes of the family.

AikensFlorence was called home by her Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family age 90 years.  She was born October 12, 1924 in Standish, Michigan to the late Felix and Mary (LaLonde) Brissette.  She married Herbert R. Aikens February 17, 1942 and he predeceased her February 23, 1984.  Florence worked at BayOsteopathicHospital and later BayMedicalCenter before retiring.  She was a member of Redeeming Love Christian Embassy and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and baking.  Surviving are seven children; Barbara Stilwell, Linda Rogner, Herbert (Dee) Aikens, Mary (Kim) Stock, Jerry (Kimberly) Aikens, Connie (William) Graham, Kathy Aikens, a daughter in-law, Laura Aikens, 31 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild and one great-great-great-great grandchild.  Also surviving are two sisters; Theresa (Ken) Hart, Marian Carson and a dear friend, Helen Folson.  She was predeceased by two sons; Ralph & Thomas Aikens, a granddaughter, Sheila Stilwell, three son’s in-law; Lynn Stilwell, Earl Rogner, Allen Putman, a daughter in-law, Leona “June” Aikens and two sisters and six brothers.  Funeral Service will take place Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home with burial in FloralGardensCemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1 – 8 p.m. and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

TalagaTish was called home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region surrounded by her loving family age 85 years.  She was born December 26, 1929 in Bay City to the late Vincent and Frances (Wachowiak) Lewandowski.  Tish worked at Wick’s Lumber for many years before retiring in 1985.  She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Rosary/Altar Sodality Group # 1, Senior Citizens, the League of Catholic Women and Men and she volunteered around the church helping any way she could.  Everyone will miss Tish’s baking especially her fruit cakes and carrot cakes.  Surviving are two sons; David (Ann) Talaga, Paul J. Talaga, three grandchildren; Jessica (Rob) Hendry, David Jr. (Amanda) Talaga, Lauren (Chris) Hornus and several great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three brothers; Ernie (Marian), Clarence (Josephine), Jim (Mary Ann) Lewandowski, two sisters; Lorine Syring, Janet (Harvey) Syring and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by two brothers; Edwin and John (Rita) Lewandowski, a sister, Rita Lewandowski and a nephew. Bruce Lewandowski.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Rick Filary will officiate with private burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church only on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass.  Members of St. Stanislaus Rosary/Altar Sodality and the Senior Citizens will pray the rosary at 10:00 a.m. Friday in church.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Stanislaus Church Building.

Betty Jane Seaton

Seaton=photoBetty Seaton age 85 years was called home by the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at McLaren Bay Special Care.  She was born October 6, 1929 in Linwood, Michigan to the late Henry and Melba (Hodder) Genow.  Betty married David Seaton and he predeceased her on November 20, 1986.  She worked in her early years at Prestolite and later retired as a Nurses Aide.  Betty enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to the casino.  Surviving are two children; Brenda Flues and Cameron Seaton, two grandchildren; Brittny and Tyler Flues, one sister, Lois Lock and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by six sisters and three brothers.  Per Betty’s wishes cremation has taken place and their will be a memorial service scheduled at a later date.  Arrangements are in the care of the Ambrose Funeral Home.
