Phyllis A. Szilagyi

Szilagyi age 96 years was called home by her Lord on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Huron Woods Nursing Home.  She was born October 2, 1918 in Kawkawlin to the late Raymond and Mabel (LaClair) Lauria.  She married Ernie Szilagyi and he predeceased her in March of 1991.  Phyllis had a business called Music Acres and taught music for many years at her home.  She like to crotchet and loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Phyllis was a very loving mother and was devoted to the special care of her son Roger.  She was a member of Fraser Road Church of God.

 

Surviving are four children; Jean (Roger) Jayo, Erna Hogan, Jim (Carol) Szilagyi, Dianne (Rick) Long, seventeen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one sister, Delma Charbonneau, a step-sister, Mary (John) Mazer and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, Roger Szilagyi, a son in-law, Rod Hogan, one great-grandson, a step-mother, Augusta Lauria, four sisters and four brothers.

 

Funeral Service will take place Monday November 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Fraser Road Church of God.  Pastor Rick Webb and Pastor Jerry Johnston will officiate with private burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday after 10:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Joseph M. Marchlewicz

     Joseph passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region, age 61.  He was born November 22, 1952 in Bay City to the late Harry and Eleanore (Bladecki) Marchlewicz. 

     Surviving is a daughter, Valerie (Scott) Harris, two grandchildren, Olivia and Spencer Harris, one brother, Timothy Marchlewicz, one sister, Judy (fiancé, Lee Gifford) Migut, many nieces and nephews.  Joseph was predeceased by a sister in-law, Mary Marchlewicz and a brother in-law, Bill Migut.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00am at All Saints Parish-St. James Church. Private interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Monday after 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are strongly encouraged to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Molly L. Nuenke

Nuenke age 56 our beloved Daughter, Sister and Aunt was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence.  She was born January 12, 1958 in Bay City.  Molly worked at Heslop’s for over 25 years.  She enjoyed listening to music, taking trips up north, watching sports and creating beautiful pictures with her camera.  Molly truly loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews.

 

Surviving is her mother, Gloria (Reynolds) Nuenke, one sister and two brothers; Susan (Bill) King, Mark (Annette) Nuenke, Keith Nuenke & special friend Lynn Ankoviak.  Also surviving are her nieces and nephews; Katie & Kellen King, Jonathon, Jordan, Ryan Nuenke and her special dog companion, Annie.  She was predeceased by her father, Louis Nuenke.

 

Funeral Service will take place Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Pastor Kevin Jones will officiate with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 – 8 p.m. and on Friday after 10:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Carolyn E. LaPan

LePan age 74 was called home by her Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region surrounded by her family.  She was born October 2, 1940 in Bay City to the late Gustave and Elmira (Chase) Bakus.  She married Peter E. LePan and he predeceased her in 1986.  Carol enjoyed scrap booking, decorating for the holidays but most of all spending time with family and friends.

 

Surviving are two sons; Charles D. and Dennis LaPan, four grandchildren; Joshua, Felicia, Katrina, Dennis Jr. LaPan, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two daughters; Debra and Gloria LaPan and one sister, Gloria Court.

 

Funeral Service will take place Thursday October 30, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Jodie Ellis will officiate.   Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Paul L. Brissette

Brissette, 81, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 in comfort and peace at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living.  He was surrounded with love of family and friends.  Paul was born on February 11, 1933, the son of the late Paul H. and Johanna (Kusmierz) Brissette.

Paul married JoAnn H. Petoskey on July 14, 1956 and together they had six children; Kimberly Brissette (Amy Rushman), Melissa (Mark) Dwyer, Paul (Lori) Brissette, Heidi (Craig) Kokaly, Fred (Anne) Brissette and Heather (John) Jatczak.  Joann predeceased him in March of 1976.  Paul then married Rosemary Dean on October 25, 1977 and became stepfather to Linda Divo (David Aumann), Alan Divo, Andy (Angie) Divo and Jackie (Rusty) Bissonette.   Rosemary predeceased him in February of 2010.  In addition to his children, he is survived by and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Megan, Sara and Matthew Dwyer; Zachary and Lindsey Brissette and Lauren (Justin) Greenfield;  Isaac and Jacob Kokaly; Kendrick, Kyle and JoAnn Brissette; Hayden and Olivia Jatczak; Eric Divo; Adam, Zach and Andrew Divo and Rebecca Bissonette.  Great-grandaughter Ava Divo.

Paul is survived by a sister, Lois (James) Berthiaume and a brother Ralph (Shirley) Brissette.  He is predeceased by a brother James (Suzanne) Brissette.

Paul was the owner of Brissette’s 6-12 Inc. which has been family owned and operated for more than four generations.

Paul served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 where he ranked Airman 1st class as well as served in the Army Reserve.  Service to his country and his community was something Paul held in high regard.  This was evident by his commitment and many years serving as a Bay County Commissioner for the Democratic Party, MBS Airport Commission, Waste Water Treatment Commission and his Bay Metro Board membership where Paul was the recipient of the Governors’ Award.   Paul was also a member of the Bay City Lions Club, Knights of Columbus Council 414 and the Fraternal Order of Police.   Paul was also instrumental in the development and building of the Bay County Ice Arena.

Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed supporting his beloved Fighting Irish and Detroit Redwings.  He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and pilot.  His kindness and generosity toward others, sense of humor and original one-liners will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care givers of Harmony Hall at Sheffield Bay who took wonderful care of Paul, giving him continuous care and love.   The family would also like to extend a thank you to the care givers of Americans Hospice Care.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church.  Concelebrating the Mass will be Fr. Patrick Jankowiak and Fr. Steve Gavit followed by Military Honors by the Bay County Veteran’s Council.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Monday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday after 9:00 a.m.  There will be a parish vigil service for Paul at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Those planning and expression of sympathy are asked to consider Our Lady of Peace Parish or The Boy and Girls Club of Bay County.

Kris Ray Finkbeiner

finkbeiner-photoKris Ray Finkbeiner age 44 was born November 27, 1969 in Bay City to Larry and Nancy Finkbeiner.

Surviving are two sons; Kolin and Chase Finkbeiner, a sister, Kelly (Eric) Everson and three nephews; Kendall, Cole, Carson and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kris was an outdoorsmen who loved to hunt and fish.  He was predeceased by his grandparents, Irvin and Myrtle Finkbeiner and was united in the hands of his grandma, Frieda on October 20, 2014.

A private funeral service took place.  Deacon Mike Arnold officiated.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.
