Barbara Jean Peters

     Barbara passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Toni and Trish House, age 82.  She was born August 21, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Floyd and Evelyn (McQuarter) Persons, Sr.  Barbara was a graduate of Saginaw High School and later Delta College.  She retired from Dow Corning Legal Department after several years as a legal assistant.

Surviving is her devoted son, John B. and Mary Beth Peters and three grandchildren: Matthew, Emily and Nicholas Peters.  Barbara was predeceased by a son, Chip Peters and one brother, Floyd Persons, Jr.

Private services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin.  Those who would like to express their sympathy are asked to consider memorial contribution to Toni and Trish House.

Steven M. Bickham

Bickham, passed away suddenly, Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Scheurer Hospital, at the age of fifty.  He was born, May 3, 1963 in Groton, Connecticut, to William J. & Margaret (Donovan) Bickham.  Steve married the former Holly J. Phillips, March 26, 1994, she survives him.  He worked for the F.P. Horak Company for many years.  Steve was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and served as the Church Trustee.  He enjoyed golfing, canoeing, helping out at church and most importantly, spending time with his family.

 

Surviving besides his wife Holly, he leaves five children;  Rebecca (Vincent) Neal, Stephen Richmond, Eric (Gennifer) Richmond, Mackenzie and Matthew Bickham.  Also surviving are his four grandchildren;   Logan & Kelsey Neal, Chayce & Anthony Richmond.  He also leaves his parents, William & Margaret Bickham, two brothers, William (Laura) Bickham, Joe (Beth) Bickham, a sister, Noreen (Shawn) Mohac and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service will take place Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. from Pilgrim Lutheran Church.  Pastor Carl Trosien will officiate.  Friends may call at the church only on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Jacqueline G. Sieja

Sieja age 87 passed away Sunday morning November 24, 2013 at the McLaren Bay Region.  She was born May 16, 1926 in Bay City to the late Casimer and Hedwig (Kasprzyk) Sielinski.  She married Robert L. Sieja June 30, 1945 in St. Stanislaus Church.  He predeceased her November 7, 2007.  Jackie was a member of St. Hedwig Church, Ladies Altar and Rosary Society and the League of Catholic Women and Men.  She truly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and playing cards.

 

Surviving are three children; Margaret Sieja, Diane (Joseph) Barbeau, Robert A. Sieja, three grandchildren; Ryan (Marcie) Carter, Courtney Sieja, Autumn (Eric) Delestowicz and three great-grandchildren; Morgan Carter, Travis Delestowicz and Mason Fournier.  Also surviving is a brother, Marion (Madeline) Sielinski.  She was predeceased by a daughter Carol Carter, a son Timothy Sieja and six sisters and three brothers.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday November 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Hedwig Church.  Fr. Kevin Kerbawy will officiate with inurnment in Oakwood Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the church only on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Bernadine C. Nelson

Nelson age 79 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday November 21, 2013 at her home.  She was born April 8, 1934 in Garfield Twp. to the late John and Clara (Lijewski) Linda.  Bernadine married Ronald O. Nelson June 2, 1956 in St. Valentine Church and he survives her.  She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the League of Catholic Women and Men.  Bernadine had worked for Salzburg Cleaners in her early years.  She will always be remembered as a person with a warm smile who never complained.  Bernadine truly loved spending time with her family.

 

Surviving besides her husband Ron, she leaves two daughters; Denise (Alan) Grocholski, Debbie (Dennis) Rugenstein, four grandchildren; Katie & Matthew Grocholski, Crissy Rugenstein & friend John and Tracy (Daniel) Granger.  Also surviving is a special brother in-law, Allan (Stella) Nelson, a niece, Mary Nelson and a nephew, Allan Nelson.  She was predeceased by a mother in-law and father in-law, Oscar and Virginia Nelson.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Hurtabise, Dr. Moody and the wonderful nurses at McLaren Bay Region 6-west especially Jeff for the wonderful care given to Bernadine over the years.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday November 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Rick Filary will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church only on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass.  Members of St. Stanislaus Parish will pray the rosary at 9:00 a.m. Monday at the church.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Stanislaus Building Fund or McLaren Bay Region-Hospice.

Rita Rose Urban

Urban age 86 passed away suddenly Wednesday November 20, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region.  She was born November 1, 1927 in Bay City to the late John and Amelia (Baran) Spica.  Rita married Joseph J. Urban November 18, 1950 in St. Hedwig Church.  He predeceased her August 4, 2010.  She had worked at Autolite and DeFoeShipBuilding early on.  Rita was a member of St. Hyacinth Church, she enjoyed attending Polish Cultural Events with her husband Joe and spending time with family and friends.

 

Surviving is a daughter and son in-law, Jeanne (Daniel) Yurgaites, two grandchildren, Allison (Derrick) Jauss, Lindsay Yurgaites, a great-grandson, Jack Michael Jauss, a brother in-law and sister in-law, Robert and Betty Urban and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother; Albina (Russell) Woodman, Dorothy (Raymond) Szczepanski and Norbert Spica.

 

Funeral Service will take place Friday November 22, 2013 at 12 noon from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Fr. Rick Filary will officiate with burial in St.PatrickCemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 – 8 p.m. and on Friday after 11:00 A.M.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Gerald M. Gwizdala

     Gerald passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 after a brief illness at the University of Michigan Hospital, age 61.  He was born September 20, 1952 in Bay City to the late Sylvester and Veronica (Sobczak) Gwizdala.  Gerald was in US Army Reserves during Vietnam and a surgical technologist at Covenant-Harrison for 17 years.  He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Essexville, a reader and Eucharistic minister.  Gerald was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2740 in Essexville and a 4th Degree Sir Knight of the John F. Kennedy Assembly #503.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the cabin at Higgins Lake.

Surviving are two children, Lori Lynn (Randy) Budd and Keith Andrew Gwizdala, their mother, Denise Smith, nine grandchildren: Alex, Garrett, and Emily Budd, Madison, Mason, Marek, Maxon, Maylee, and Mailin Gwizdala, one brother, Thomas (Marsha) Gwizdala, two nephews, Dennis and Michael Ford and a niece, Shelby Ford.  Gerald was predeceased by a sister, Jane Ellen Ford and his step-mother, Clara Gwizdala.

Cremation has taken place.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Fr. Dale Orlik will celebrate Mass and private inurnment will be held at a later date.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave., Bay City on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Saturday after 9:00am.  Members of the Knights of Columbus Council #2740 will have their Bible Presentation at 6:45pm, followed immediately by the John F. Kennedy Assembly #503 4th Degree Chalice Presentation.  Then, a Parish Vigil Service for Gerald will be held at 7:00pm. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “family wishes.”
