Laura Moore

      Ms. Moore passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at home with her daughters by her side.  She was 93 years and ten months old.  She was born October 13, 1919, in Monroe County, Georgia to the late Elijah and Phoebe (Green) Pennington.  Laura married Edgar Albert Moore and from this union birth four girls, Phoebe Eunice, Mamie Geneva, Alma Teene and Maizie Bell.  Edgar A. Moore predeceased her in 1991 and Mamie G. in 2012.  Laura was very devoted to her family and her bible.  Laura loved to watch sports, especially baseball, basketball and football.

Surviving are three daughters: Phoebe Eunice Williams, Alma T. Moore and Maizie B. Wilkins, eight grandchildren: Marleen, Edgar, Vincent (Cora), Anesha, Jessie, Deborah, Steve and Kevin.  Also surviving are several great grandchildren and a host of great great grandchildren.  Laura was predeceased by a daughter, Mamie Jones, two grandchildren, Ronald Jr. and Antonio and one son in-law, Ronald Williams.

The Funeral Service will take place Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Squires Funeral Home.  Minister Dangerfield will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

 

Bernice H. Kopec

kopec-photo291Bernice H. Kopec passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 with her family at her side.

She was born November 13, 1920 in Bay City to the late Joseph & Mary (Lobodzinski) Magryta. She married Frank Kopec in 1945. He predeceased her.

Most important in her life were her faith and her family. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Felician Sister’s Auxiliary, League of Catholic Women & Men, St. Stan’s Senior Citizens, and Rosary/Altar Society group #29.

Surviving are two daughters: Barbara (Michael) Premo and Margaret (Gene) Spiker. Grandchildren: Dawn (Kevin) VanLiew, Lisa Smith, Stacey (Justin) Pruett, Matthew (Chelsea) Premo, Christy Shorkey, Holly Spiker (Joseph Richard). Great-grandchildren: Addison Smith and Mason Premo.  Sister, Angeline (Joseph) Kravat and brother, Joseph (Irene) Magryta and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her loving son, Paul. Sisters: Anna Klass, Clara Magryta, Virginia Matuszewski, Evelyn Suchodolski, Marie Leppek. Brothers: Eugene and Edward Magryta.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Kerr for his years of compassionate care and the staff of Hoyt Nursing Home for kindness given to Bernice.

Funeral Mass will take place Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church.  Rev. Fr. Jerzy Dobosz will officiate with private burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of  service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

JoAnn M. Adamczyk

     Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Bay Special Care Hospital, age 76.  She was born July 13, 1937 in Bay City to the late George and Adele (Dishaw) Rosebush, Sr.  JoAnn married Leonard Adamczyk in Bay City on September 17, 1955; he survives her.  She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church and volunteered with the funeral luncheons when she was able.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Leonard, two sons, Dave (Joann) and Dale (Denise) Adamczyk, five grandchildren: Stacie (Greg) Rousseau, Kristen, Kathryn Adamczyk, Andrea (fiancé, Trevor Blandford) and Michelle Adamczyk, one great granddaughter, Madilyn Corraini, two brothers, George (Barbara) Rosebush, Jr and Charles (Marilyn) Rosebush, one sister, Norma J. Voisine, three brother in-laws: Felix (Rita), Joseph and Aloysius and two sisters, Rose and Josephine.  JoAnn was predeceased by a brother in-law, Vic Voisine.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Maria Goretti Church.  Fr. George Serour and Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDden will preside over the funeral rites.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Wednesday after 9:00am.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to a charity of donor’s choice.

     Mark passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at home, age 47.  He was born January 25, 1966 in Detroit to Charles E. and Celeste M. (Solak) White.  Mark enjoyed volunteering at the Bay County Humane Society.

Surviving are his parents, Charles and Celeste White, four children: Kassie, Jerod, Lukas, and Noah, their mother, Jill (Whelton) White, two sisters, Beverly (Steve) Bambach and Leeanne (Ron) Weinreich, several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Mark will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 7:00pm at the Squires Funeral Home.  Nancy Rivet will officiate.  Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00pm.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Bay County Humane Society or an education fund for Mark’s children.

Claudia Jean Smith “Jeannie”

Jeannie passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home, age 55.  She was born July 29, 1957 in Menomine, Michigan and has lived in Bay City most of her life.  She enjoyed playing bingo, riding motorcycles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Jeannie is survived by her step-father, Donald Haas, two daughters, Christina Christian (Shane) Wagner, Kellie Bea (Shawn) Thompson, eight grandchildren: Brian, Tyler, Bryce, Logan, Tayven, Madison, Meagan and Tori, brothers and sisters: Donald Terry (Becky) Smith, David Alan Smith, Helen Marie (Barry) Ridgeway, Mary (JD) Sagryn and Dennis Dennings.  Jeannie was predeceased by her mother, Sandra Estella (Main) Haas and her grandparents.

Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service for Jeannie will take place Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 11:00am at Squires Funeral Home.  Nancy Rivet will officiate.  Friends may gather with the family from 10:00am until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered to family wishes.

Dorothy E. Mills “Dot”

Dorothy passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Covenant-Harrison, age 85.  She was born July 31, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Waldon and Marie (Benedict) Haffey.  Dorothy married Roy E. Mills on November 22, 1945; he survives her.  She enjoyed bowling, dancing and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving is the love of her life of more than 67 years, Roy, three children: Connie (Michael) Woodman, Scott (Kitty) Mills, and Stacey (Ken Smolinski) Mills, six grandchildren: Jeff and Cory Stevens, Larissa Russell, Jermey Mills, Kelsey and Courtney Stanley, and three great grandchildren: Brittany, Reif and Brett Stevens.  Dorothy was predeceased by a daughter, Colleen Mills and two sisters, Marianne Guettler and Lois Lange.

The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11:00am at Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and Wednesday after 10:00am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society.
