Maxine M. Kowalski

Maxine M. Kowalski passed away Friday September 28, 2012 at the Bay Medical Care Facility age 82.  Daughter of the late Peter P. & Frances (Lemiesz) Piesik Sr. she was born February 5, 1930 in Bay City.  She married Gerald R. Kowalski May 5, 1979 in St. Hyacinth Church.  He predeceased her October 9, 1992.  Maxine worked at Bay City Chevrolet for over 30 years before retiring June 1, 1979.  She was a member of St. Hyacinth Church and the U.A.W. Local #362 Retirees.  Maxine had a very strong devotion to the rosary and the Blessed Mother.

Surviving are sisters in-law and brothers in-law; Dorothy Piesik, Patricia (Ron) Kwapieszewski, Robert (Betty) Kowalski, Gerald Rasmer, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great – great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by five sisters; Angeline Husband, Germaine Streich, Barbara Moszyk, Marion Villaire, Patricia Rasmer and five brothers; Aloysius, Peter Jr., Gerald, Harold and Valentine Piesik.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bay Medical Care Facility 1-west for the wonderful care given to Maxine while she was there.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday October 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Hyacinth Church.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate with private burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church only on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Hyacinth Church.

Suzanne M. Staudacher

Suzanne passed suddenly Monday September 24, 2012 at the Chippewa War Memorial Hospital in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, age 57. She was born February 19, 1955 in Bay City to the late John and Laura (Doerr) Gwizdala. Suzanne married Robert E. Staudacher on May 22, 2003; he survives her. She was currently employed at Trix’s Pub on Broadway.

Surviving besides her husband, Robert, is one son, Michael Laatsch, one step-daughter, Tammy (John) Rajewski, two granddaughters: Rachael and Julia, two sisters and one brother: Joanne (Rod) Swavel, Joe (Terri) Gwizdala, Lorie Mistura and one niece, Gina Mistura. Suzanne was predeceased by two brothers, Mike and John Gwizdala.

The Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00am at Ambrose Funeral Home. Sr. Joanne Toohey will officiate with interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm and Friday after 10:00am. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

Our loving husband and father passed away peacefully Friday evening September 21, 2012 at the Carriage House of Bay City, age 90. Martin was born August 5, 1922 in Bay City and has lived here all his life. He married Lora Kernstock; she survives him. He was a WWII veteran and served his country with the US Navy. Martin retired from American Hoist and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion.

Surviving besides his wife, Lora is a son, Mark J. and Cynthia Ruhlig and three sisters in laws: Esther Teuscher, Irma McKenzie and June Kernstock.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 12:00noon at the Squires Funeral Home. Pastor John Wernecke will officiate and interment will follow in Fremont Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00pm and Monday after 11:00am.

Dorothy Anne Howard

Dorothy Anne Howard passed away early Friday morning September 21, 2012 at the James E. Cartwright Care Center after a lengthy illness age 67. Daughter of the late Edgar J. & Virginia M. (Sutherland) DesJardins she was born November 14, 1944 in Caribou, Maine. She married Richard L. Howard Sr. September 4, 1965 and have recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Dorothy was owner and operator of Granny’s Services for many years. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the League of Catholic Women and Men.

Surviving besides her husband Richard she leaves four children; Leslie Anne Tapp, Richard “Bud” (Rosalyn) Howard Jr., Margaret (Frank) VanHaaren, Joseph (Gretchen) Howard, nine grandchildren; Erin & Katherine Nesbitt, Duncan & Sarah Howard, Richard, Brandan & Dustyn VanHaaren, Jacob & Andie Howard and one great-granddaughter; Adalynn Elizalde. Also surviving is a sister; Barbara G. Warriner, one niece, several great-nieces, nephews and several dear friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday September 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Rev. Fr. Richard Filary will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the church only on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Vincent DePaul Store.

Janet passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Carriage House of Bay City, age 74. She was born February 1, 1938 in Bay City to the late Philip and Cecilia (Grauherr) Killey. She married Marvin L. Jones on August 20, 1960 in Visitation Church; he survives her. Janet was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting and animals, especially dogs.

Surviving besides her husband, Marvin are three children: Timothy (Kellie), Daniel and Annette Jones, one granddaughter, Lauren, two sisters, Ruth Levengood and Jean Phillips and two brothers, John (Carol) and David (Carolyn) Killey. Janet was predeceased by one sister, Ann Allen and two brother in-laws, Jack Levengood and Fred Phillips.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Fr. Bert Gohm will celebrate Mass and graveside interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Friday after 9:00am. A Parish Vigil Service for Janet will be held Thursday at 7:00pm, from the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Don passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Covenant-Cooper, age 67.He was born December 29, 1944 in Bay City to the late Joseph T. and Mary L. (Carrier) Couture.Don married Mary Ann Neitzel on February 12, 1966 at St. James Church; she survives him.He was a Vietnam veteran and served his country with the US Air Force.Don retired from Saginaw Steering Gear in 1997 after 30 years of dedicated service.He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, UAW Local #699 and South End Citizens District Council.Don enjoyed ushering at church, fixing things, traveling to Florida, camping with his family and loved fishing.

Surviving besides his wife, Mary Ann is three children: Denise (John) Davidson, Kathy (Budd) Kamins and Karen Gall, seven grandchildren: Sara, Victoria, Elizabeth, Nicole, Daniel, Paul and Jessica, two great grandchildren, Willim and Savannah, five sisters and one brother: Mary (Bill) Skowronski, Therese (Doug) Wagner, Raoul (Nita) Couture, Donna (Gary) Rickle, Bea (Dick) Turvey and Janet McKenzie.Don was predeceased by a daughter, Christine Couture in 2006, one brother, Michael Couture and a brother in-law, John McKenzie.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 11:00am at St. James Catholic Church.Fr.
