Chester E. Michalak

Monday, April 30th, 2012


Our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 age 95 years.  Son of the late Stanley & Stella (Stajkowski) Michalak he was born July 14, 1916 in Bay City.  He married the former Virginia Gwizdala October 30, 1946 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  She predeceased him November 16, 2007.  Chet served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later retired from McDonald Dairy in 1973 after 35 years of service.  He was a member of St. Hyacinth Church.


Surviving are two children: Ellen (Michael) Moore, David (Mary) Michalak, thirteen grandchildren, John (Kellie), Joseph (Kristi), Ronald (Sue) Moore, Cathy (Tony) Micho, Jennifer (Joe) Facundo, Michele (Matt) Connelly, David (Heidi), Tony (Jill), Jason (Brandi), Andy (Angie), Robert (Kari) Michalak, Laura Michalak & her fiance Kyle, Katie Michalak and twenty great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother, Harry Michalak and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Michalak, Florence (Gene) Grabowski, one brother, Stanley (Jane) Michalak and a sister in-law, Leona Michalak.


Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Hyacinth Church.  Rev. Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m.  There will be a parish vigil service for Chet at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Hyacinth Church.

William C. Rueff

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012


Mr. Rueff passed away Saturday March 31, 2012 at the Caretel Inn of Tri-Cities at the age of 92.  He was born June 22, 1919 in Midland, Michigan.  He married the former June Wilson and she survives him.


Surviving besides his wife he leaves two children: Carole (James) Bourdlaies, William Jr. (Renee) Rueff, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


A Memorial Service will take place Friday April 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate with inurnment in Oakridge Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. and on Friday after 9:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Donor’s Favorite Charity.

Milford R. “Bob, Gator” Mix

Bay City, Michigan


     Gator returned home to reunite with the Lord, his wife, Sharon and deceased family members on Monday, April 23, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region, age 72.  He wed the love of his life Sharon A. Alcorn on July 2, 1960 at St. Hyacinth Church; she predeceased him on February 9, 1980.  Gator retired from the former Monitor Sugar, now Michigan Sugar in 2002.  He was a lifelong farmer and had a great love for the land.  But, his passion was flowers.  He began his greenhouse business prior to his retirement and dedciated his life to his family, flowers and farming. 

     Gator leaves several children, a daughter, Patrice A. Mix, three sons: Milford R. (Wendy) Mix III, John G. (Sheree) Mix and Daryl S. (Jill) Mix, three sisters: Pearl M. (Ron) Kukla, Nancy J. Mix and Patricia (Don) Holthe, several grandchildren: Kevin Q. Mix, Kristin K. Mix, Meghan H. Mix, Michael S. Mix, Kacie L. Mix and Meredith F Mix, Mandee (Jason) Winchell, Jonathan (Stacy) Gielda, Zak and Nick Phillips, Tammy and Michael Awad, great grandchildren: Dominic, Anthony, Indee, Laikin, Ajae, Ciera, Tyler and Jayden.  Also surviving are special nephews and nieces: Michael A. (Dawn) Kukla, Kelly and Sarah Shaheen and Gary W. Hall, special friends, Peyton, Kacee and Samantha.  Also, his faithful dog, Sparky.  Gator was predeceased by his parents, Milford R. and Helen A. (Jozwiak) Mix, his wife, Sharon, several aunts, uncles and a nephew, William Hall.

     The Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00am at Ambrose Funeral Home.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and Friday after 10:00am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Fr. Flannigan’s Boystown or Family Wishes.

     Last but not least, the Mix family would like to thank all of dad’s excellent caregivers while he was at home, Freddie Flues, Meghan Pittack and Sue VanOchten for there kind and compassionate care they extend our father.

Lee Ann Kowalski

Lee Ann Kowalski passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region age 62.  She was born to the late Richard and Phyllis (Shann) Thomas on April 5, 1950 in Bay City.  Lee married John S. Kowalski in Roscommon in 1996.  He survives her along with her three children, William (Shelly) Swincicki, Lynda (Paul) Montoya and Jennifer Swincicki.  She was very proud of her grandchildren, Alyssa, Ethan, Jacob, Richard, Paul Jr. and Ashlynn along with great grandson Jeszen.


          Cremation has taken place.  There will be no visitation or services planned.

Rosalee A. Justa

Rosalee A. Justa passed away Thursday April 19, 2012 surrounded by family and friends at the McLaren Bay Region age 67 years.  Daughter of the late Alfred & Angeline (Heinz) Justa she was born  June 9, 1944 in Bay City.  Rosalee worked for many years for Bosco Fruit Company before retiring and  starting her own business Just Accounting & Tax Service.  She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Rosary/Altar Society group #22 where she served as an officer, Senior Citizens, Felician Sister’s Auxiliary, League of Catholic Women and Men, parish Finance Committee and was a Eucharistic Minister.  Rosalee was an avid bowler and enjoyed participating in the River of Time.


Surviving is one brother and a sister in-law; Dave (Ruth) Justa, a nephew; Jonathan (Amy) Justa, great-nephew; Adam Justa and two Godchildren; Connie and Elena Barber.  Also surviving are special cousins; Lorraine Boks, Marcine (Gene) Andrzejewski, Julie Dabrowski and many other wonderful family members, friends and her three dogs.


Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday April 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Rev. Fr. Rick Filary will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday after 12 noon.  Members of St. Stanislaus Rosary/Altar Society, Senior Citizens and the Felician Sister’s Auxiliary will pray the rosary on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. followed by a parish vigil service for Rosalee at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Stanislaus Parish Development Fund.

Gerald B. Vink

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

Mr. Vink passed away Monday April 16, 2012 at the McLaren Bay Region at the age of 78.  Son of the late Charles & Marguerite (Wiedyk) Vink he was born March 22, 1934 in Bay City.  He married the former Betty Mielock September 27, 1958 in St. Joseph Church and she survives him.  Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force and later retired from AT&T.


Surviving besides his wife Betty he leaves six children: Joyce (James) Snow, Barb (Dennis) Banaszak, Michael Vink, Dianne (Dean) Vos, Scott (Cindy) Vink, James Vink, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.  Also surviving are a brother and a sister: Frederick (Loretta) Vink, Gertrude Keister and a sister in-law: Betty Vink.  He was predeceased by a daughter in-law; Teri Vink, a brother & sister; Bob & Patricia Vink and a brother in-law; Donald Keister.


Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services planned at this time.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society Bay County Unit.
