Lois L. Ecker

eckerphotoMrs. Ecker passed away Thursday morning March 29, 2012 at her home age 81 years.  She was born October 31, 1930 in Caro, Michigan.  Lois married Howard Hubbard in Flint and he predeceased her.  She then married Levi Ecker and he survives her.  Lois worked at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Tender Care Nursing Home in Tawas, Division on Aging in Omer and later in Standish Hospital.

 Surviving besides her husband she leaves two sons: Jonathon & David Hubbard and Mary Sheck and her entire loving family where Lois has lived for the past two and half years.

 Memorial Service will take place Saturday March 31, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. from the Redeeming Love Christian Embassy.  Pastor Kelly Isabel and Pastor Donald Killey will officiate.  Friends may call at the church only on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Pauline A. LaMoria

     Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region after a lengthy battle with cancer, age 62.  She was born May 27, 1949 in Bay City to the late Donald and Magdalene (Michalak) Wajer.  Pauline married Edward L. LaMoria; he predeceased her on March 15, 2007.  She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

     Surviving are four children: Daniel (Deidra) LaMoria, Dawn LaMoria, Jeff LaMoria and Angela (Jeff Davidson) LaMoria, six grandchildren: Gabrielle and Joshua LaMoria, Robert Gauthier, Jr., Ryan Scholtz, Rebecca and McKenzie Davidson, three sisters: Maxine (Tom) Wagner, Donna (Bob) Madaj and Charlotte (Glen) Carey, one brother, Greg (Connie) Wajer, one sister in-law, Joyce Wajer, many close friends and dear neighbors.  Pauline was predeceased by her granddaughter, Tabitha LaMoria-Greene, one brother, Jerry Wajer and her step-father, Floyd Beauchamp.

     Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial for Pauline will be schedule at a later date.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

Evarista “Slim” Gordon

     Evarista passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at St. Mary’s of Michigan, age 81.  She was born October 26, 1930 on Bay City to the late Stanley and Mary (Wodzikowski) Burzynski.  Slim lived in Texas for 30 years before she moved back to the Bay City area in 1988.  She was a Korean Conflict veteran and served her country with the US Marine Corps; stationed in Hawaii.  She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and volunteered at the Cats Meow after retirement.  She loved to share stories and spend time with her beautiful grandchildren.

     Slim is survived by her daughter, Mary Kathryn Turek, three grandchildren: Anthony Joseph, Kevin Patrick and Brandi Elizabeth Turek, one sister, Mary Kato and her loving godson, Robert Tomczak.  Slim was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Fr. Ricky M. Varner will celebrate Mass.  Friends may call at the church only on Friday from 10:00am to 11:00am.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Breast Cancer Awareness.

     Our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Brian’s House, age 96.  She was born January 18, 1916 in Bay City to the late Joseph and Helen (Brzezinski) Helminiak.  Florence married Edwin J. Bert in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on September 6, 1937; he predeceased her on January 26, 1996.  She worked at Wolverine Knitting Mills for many years and later at Roth Dry Cleaners.  She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Felician Sisters Auxiliary and life member of the Rosary/Altar Sodality.  Florence enjoyed polka music and dancing, knitting, cooking and crosswords.

     Surviving is her son, Terry (Cheryl) Bert, one grandson, Neil Bert and his mother, Michelle Bert, two granddaughters: Jessica (Nate) Stromberg and Jasmine (Robin) Schantzen, two great granddaughters: Annie and Lily Stromberg, many nieces and nephews.  Florence was predeceased by an infant daughter, Jane Marie, one son, Thomas E. Bert and one sister, Eleanor Lerczak.

     The Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be celebrated Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass and private entombment will be in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, Saginaw.  Friends may call at the church only on Thursday from 9:30am to 11:00am.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorials to Brian’s House, Bay Shore Nursing Care Center, American Cancer Society or St. Stanislaus Campus Development Fund.

Eustolia “Neddy” Martinez

Eustolia (Neddy) Martinez went to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday March 15, 2012 at Brian’s House with her family by her side age 74 years.  Daughter of the late Manual & Simona (Cortez) Sanchez she was born November 11, 1937 in D’Hanis, Texas.  Neddy will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be truly missed.  She enjoyed cooking for her family, was an avid reader and was the biggest Elvis Presley fan.  Neddy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them all very dearly.

 

Surviving are her 9 children: Rose (Allan) Napieralski, Rick (Cindy) Martinez, Raul (Marty) Martinez, Veronica (Ken) Rooker, Lisa (Andy) McPhee, Joe Martinez, Al (Helen) Martinez, Henry Martinez, Troy Martinez, 26 grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving are three sisters: Thelma Guzman, Vicky (Earl) Burk, Maria (Fred) Cavazos and many nieces and nephews.  She was  predeceased by a son: Paul Martinez Jr. and three brothers and a sister.

 

Funeral Service will take place Tuesday March 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Sr. Joann Plumpe will officiate with private inurnment in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Ory James Bradley “OB”

Ory James Bradley was called home to be with The Lord Jesus Christ late Tuesday night of an unexpected illness at 23 years of age.  He was born in Saginaw, Michigan January 10, 1989 to Gerald Bradley Jr. and Kathleen (Ballard) Bradley.  Surviving besides his parents is his brothers: Gerald (Kerri) Bradley III, Eric (Holly Eichorn) Bradley, baby sister: April Bradley and the love of his life, Jordan Capp.  Also surviving is his grandparents: Gerald & Marie Bradley, Kathleen Ballard, Rose Ballard and his great-grandmother: Doris Birch.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends who loved him very much, as well as his family at New Testament Bethel Church where he was an active member and the church drummer.  He was predeceased by his grandfather: Roy Ballard Sr.  A special thanks to Uncle Roy Bradley and Uncle Dusty Ballard for all their love and support and to the staff at McLaren Bay Region for their care and support during Ory’s stay.  Ory was attending Delta College to pursue a degree in creative writing.  The family would like to note that they are proud of his accomplishments and how he came back from a worldly way to a life of God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Funeral Service will take place Saturday March 17, 2012 at 12 noon from the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Dusty Ballard will officiate with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday from 1 – 8 p.m. and on Saturday after 11:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.
