Leonard V. Maciejewski

Leonard Maciejewski passed away Tuesday February 28, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family age 88 years. Son of the late Casimir Sr. & Martha (Wagner) Maciejewski he was born July 25, 1923 in Bay City. Leonard was a faithful lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church where he married the former Bernadette (Benny) Budzinski on September 10, 1946 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage, she survives him. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was on the Air/Sea Rescue Squadron. Leonard was a loyal employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years as a clerk/mail sorter. He also worked in his uncle’s butcher shop “Ziggy’s Meat Market for many years. He was a life member of the VFW, PLAV, St. George Society, St. Stanislaus Senior Citizens and St. Stanislaus Athletic Club. Leonard enjoyed golfing, playing cards and watching sports.
Surviving besides his wife Benny he leaves four children; Bill (Jan) Maciejewski, Linda (Robert) Studniarz all of Bay City, Mark (Chris) Maciejewski of Clarkston, MI., Tim (Lisa) Maciejewski of Charlotte, NC., eight grandchildren: Michael (Jenny) Maciejewski, Daniel Maciejewski & his friend Jayne Lomba, John (Angenette) Studniarz, Anne (Jason) “Studniarz” Clayton, Keith (Amy) Maciejewski, Morgan (Rev. Michael) D’Avanzo, Kyle Maciejewski, Allie Stephens and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Arthur (Madeline) Maciejewski, Casimir Jr.,(Rosellyn) Maciejewski, one sister: Romaine Roznowski, one sister in-law: Rita Dettmer and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant granddaughter: Mary Catherine Studniarz, one sister and a brother in-law: Caroline and George Franek and a brother in-law: John Roznowski.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday March 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Fr. Richard M. Filary will preside with burial in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veteran’s Council. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. St. Stanislaus Senior Citizens will pray the rosary at 2:00 p.m. Friday and the Vigil service for Leonard at 7:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Stanislaus Development Fund.
