Obituaries

Leonard Maciejewski passed away Tuesday February 28, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family age 88 years.  Son of the late Casimir Sr. & Martha (Wagner) Maciejewski he was born July 25, 1923 in Bay City.  Leonard was a faithful lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church where he married the former Bernadette (Benny) Budzinski on September 10, 1946 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage, she survives him.  He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was on the Air/Sea Rescue Squadron.  Leonard was a loyal employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years as a clerk/mail sorter.  He also worked in his uncle’s butcher shop “Ziggy’s Meat Market for many years.  He was a life member of the VFW, PLAV, St. George Society, St. Stanislaus Senior Citizens and St. Stanislaus Athletic Club.  Leonard enjoyed golfing, playing cards and watching sports.

Surviving besides his wife Benny he leaves four children;   Bill (Jan) Maciejewski, Linda (Robert) Studniarz all of Bay City, Mark (Chris) Maciejewski of Clarkston, MI., Tim (Lisa) Maciejewski of Charlotte, NC., eight grandchildren: Michael (Jenny) Maciejewski, Daniel Maciejewski & his friend Jayne Lomba, John (Angenette) Studniarz, Anne (Jason) “Studniarz”  Clayton, Keith (Amy) Maciejewski, Morgan (Rev. Michael) D’Avanzo, Kyle Maciejewski, Allie Stephens and four great grandchildren.  Also surviving are two brothers: Arthur (Madeline) Maciejewski, Casimir Jr.,(Rosellyn) Maciejewski, one sister: Romaine Roznowski, one sister in-law: Rita Dettmer and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his infant granddaughter: Mary Catherine Studniarz, one sister and a brother in-law: Caroline and George Franek and a brother in-law: John Roznowski.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday March 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Richard M. Filary will preside with burial in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veteran’s Council.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 9:00 a.m.  St. Stanislaus Senior Citizens will pray the rosary at 2:00 p.m. Friday and the Vigil service for Leonard at 7:00 p.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Stanislaus Development Fund.

Bob Majdecki passed away Sunday February 26, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital age 57 years.  Son of the late Joseph & Georgiana (Gray) Majdecki he was born May 13, 1954 in Toledo, OH.  Bob was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are two children: Bob Majdecki, Ashley (Paul Eric) Mulders, fiancée: Lorie Roth, four stepchildren: Heather Gibelyou, Brandon Terwilliger, Crystal and Joshua Roth.  Also surviving are three brothers: Frank (Nancy) Majdecki, Leonard Majdecki, Jay (Karen) Majdecki, many nieces, nephews and his pets: Nikki, Baby, Autumn, Precious and Pixie.  He was predeceased by his brother: Joseph Majdecki Jr.

Funeral Service will take place Saturday March 3, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Sr. Mary Epple R.S.M. will officiate. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Aurora passed away at her home on Saturday February 25, 2012 with her family by her side age 81 years.  She was born April 18, 1930 in Mathis, TX.  Aurora was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church.  She was a homemaker, an avid gardener, seamstress and enjoyed her leisure walks.

Aurora is survived by her husband, Anatolio (Tony) Martinez of 29 years whom she married December 10, 1982.  Also surviving is her children: Raynalda Metzger, Lee (Mary Ann) Aguilar, Albert Aguilar, Lynda Brady, John Aguilar, Alicia (Richard) Urbane, Mary Burgess, Nancy Aguilar (Jim) and Jerry Aguilar.  Her stepchildren: Daniel (Julie) Martinez, Gilbert (Kathy) Martinez, Olga Martinez and Olivia Martinez.  She was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.  Aurora is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, many nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends.  She was predeceased by her parents, one brother: Juan Cardeans, a sister: Romano Morena and a step son: Michael Martinez.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday February 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Maria Goretti Church.  Presiding over the funeral rite will be Fr. William Taylor and Sr. Virginia Scally SNDdeN with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Maria Goretti Church Memorial Fund.

Bay City, Michigan

     Our beloved sister and aunt went home to heaven with her Lord and reunite with her husband Walter on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Brian’s House, age 87.  Angie was born March 5, 1924 in Bay City to the late Vincent and Stella (Kaliszewski) Suhak.  She married Walter F. Marchlewicz in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on August 17, 1946; he predeceased her on February 7, 2002.  Angie retired from Prestolite after 32 years of dedicated service and was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and its’ Rosary Society.  She loved spending time with her husband at their cabin, trout fishing, and gardening.  Also, in her later years try her luck at the Sizzlers at the casino.

     Surviving is a sister, Joan “Jeanette” (Edwin) Jankowski, many nieces, nephews, and very good neighbors.  Angie was predeceased by three brothers: Chester (Helen), Lewis, and Paul (Anne) Suhak.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. William J. Rutkowski will celebrate Mass and entombment will follow in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the church only on Monday from 9:00am until the time of Mass.

Bay City, Michigan

                Mrs. Matuszewski passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Brian’s House with her family at her side.

Age 86.  Virginia was born on November 10, 1925 in Bay City to the late Harold J. and Mary M. (Ryczek) Jonkis.  She was united in marriage to Anthony F. Matuszewski in November of 1948.  They celebrated 57 wonderful years together before he predeceased her in September of 2005.  A lifelong resident of Bay City Virginia was a devoted, loving, and cherished daughter, wife and mother.

          She is survived by her daughters, Rosemary (Richard) Lawrence of Caldwell, Idaho; Mary Matuszewski of Bay City; Kathleen (Mark) Seckinger of Marysville, Ohio; one sister LaDonna (Robert) DePrekel and many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.  Along with her parents she was predeceased by her sister Margaret (Florian) Janowicz; and a brother Robert (Loretta) Jonkis.

          The family would like to thank the angels of One West at Bay Medical Care Facility and Brian’s House for their compassionate care for Virginia.

          Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 with Sister Mary Epple RSM officiating at the Squires Funeral Home and private burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the wishes of Virginia’s family.

Bay City, Michigan

     Don passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home with his family by his side, age 79.  He was born June 24, 1932 in Bay City to the late Edmund and Eva (Lukowski) Wisniewski.  Don married Maxine P. Kondziola on September 13, 1958; she survives him.  He was a veteran and served his country during the Korean Conflict with the US Army.  He retired from Prestolite with over 30 years of dedicated service and was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Don loved spending time and sharing memories with his grandchildren.  He had a great passion for woodworking and enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing.  Don also loved dancing and was like “Fred Astaire” on the dance floor.

     Surviving besides his wife, Maxine are three children: Beverly (David) Garon, Ken Wisniewski and Darlene Wisniewski, five grandchildren: Aaron (fiancé, Jayme) Williams, Brandt, Keaton, Derek Wisniewski and Kevin “Buck Shot” Wisniewski, one brother, Norman (Fran) Wisniewski, one sister, Charmaine (Edward) Ratajczak, one brother in-law, Dan (Mary) Kondziola, three sister in-laws: Mary Ann (Ed) Murphy, Grace Ann Chislea and Judy Wisniewski, several nieces and nephews.  Don was predeceased by one brother, Roger Wisniewski and one sister, Phyllis Piechowiak.

     Prayers will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 9:30am.  The Funeral Mass will follow at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at 10:00am.  Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass and interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00pm, Friday from 1:00 to 8:00pm and Saturday after 9:00am.  Members of St. Stan’s Parish will pray the Rosary Friday at 2:00pm, followed later by a Parish Vigil Service for Don at 7:00pm.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”
