Virginia A. Matuszewski

                Mrs. Matuszewski passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Brian’s House with her family at her side.

Age 86.  Virginia was born on November 10, 1925 in Bay City to the late Harold J. and Mary M. (Ryczek) Jonkis.  She was united in marriage to Anthony F. Matuszewski in November of 1948.  They celebrated 57 wonderful years together before he predeceased her in September of 2005.  A lifelong resident of Bay City Virginia was a devoted, loving, and cherished daughter, wife and mother.

 

          She is survived by her daughters, Rosemary (Richard) Lawrence of Caldwell, Idaho; Mary Matuszewski of Bay City; Kathleen (Mark) Seckinger of Marysville, Ohio; one sister LaDonna (Robert) DePrekel and many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.  Along with her parents she was predeceased by her sister Margaret (Florian) Janowicz; and a brother Robert (Loretta) Jonkis.

 

          The family would like to thank the angels of One West at Bay Medical Care Facility and Brian’s House for their compassionate care for Virginia.

 

          Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 with Sister Mary Epple RSM officiating at the Squires Funeral Home and private burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the wishes of Virginia’s family.

Donald E. Wisniewski

     Don passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home with his family by his side, age 79.  He was born June 24, 1932 in Bay City to the late Edmund and Eva (Lukowski) Wisniewski.  Don married Maxine P. Kondziola on September 13, 1958; she survives him.  He was a veteran and served his country during the Korean Conflict with the US Army.  He retired from Prestolite with over 30 years of dedicated service and was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Don loved spending time and sharing memories with his grandchildren.  He had a great passion for woodworking and enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing.  Don also loved dancing and was like “Fred Astaire” on the dance floor.

     Surviving besides his wife, Maxine are three children: Beverly (David) Garon, Ken Wisniewski and Darlene Wisniewski, five grandchildren: Aaron (fiancé, Jayme) Williams, Brandt, Keaton, Derek Wisniewski and Kevin “Buck Shot” Wisniewski, one brother, Norman (Fran) Wisniewski, one sister, Charmaine (Edward) Ratajczak, one brother in-law, Dan (Mary) Kondziola, three sister in-laws: Mary Ann (Ed) Murphy, Grace Ann Chislea and Judy Wisniewski, several nieces and nephews.  Don was predeceased by one brother, Roger Wisniewski and one sister, Phyllis Piechowiak.

     Prayers will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 9:30am.  The Funeral Mass will follow at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at 10:00am.  Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass and interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00pm, Friday from 1:00 to 8:00pm and Saturday after 9:00am.  Members of St. Stan’s Parish will pray the Rosary Friday at 2:00pm, followed later by a Parish Vigil Service for Don at 7:00pm.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

     The Wisniewski family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Webb, his staff and McLaren Visiting Nurse and Hospice, especially Tiffany for their professional, compassionate and gentle care they gave Don and his entire family.

Alma R.A. Quintel

     Alma passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Brittany Manor in Midland, age 101.  She was born November 27, 1910 on Monitor Township to the late William and Mary M. (Pfundt) Quintel.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, 8 Mile Road.

     Surviving is two brothers, Norman and Edgar Quintel and two sisters, Lydia Kuntsman and Hulda (Emil) Weiss.  Alma was predeceased by six brother and sisters: Clara, Ida, Adolph, John, Erna and Meta.

     The Funeral Service and Committal Rite will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5545 8 Mile Road.  Rev. David Sherry will officiate and private interment will be in Lutheran Home Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church only on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of services.

Ellen Elizabeth Ralph

Ellen died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region, age 95 years.  Daughter of the late Amos & Orrissi N. (Andrews) Ellis, she was born June 30, 1916, in Ogemaw County.  She graduated from Central High School in 1935.  Ellen married Thomas Earl Ralph, October 16, 1937.  He predeceased her February 23, 1992.  She worked at Bay City Chevrolet, Prestolite, ARC of Bay County, and she served as a Treasurer of the Board for both the ARC and Do All Inc. for many years.  Ellen was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Church, Herter Keyboard Club, Temple Theater Organ Club and the League of Catholic Women & Men. 

 

Surviving is a son, Arthur T. Ralph and a sister Naomi Johnson.  Also surviving are nieces and nephews:  Robert K. (Deborah) Nussear, Terry B. (Sue) Nussear, Gary E. (Linda) Nussear, Judy Nussear, Barry, Kathy, David, Elaine and Jay Johnson.  Great nieces and nephews:  Paula Edwards, Eric Nussear, Jeff Nussear, Dan Nussear, Tammy Scott and Carrie Rondo.  She was predeceased by a sister, Esther Nussear. 

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. from Our Lady of the Visitation Church.  Rev. Fr. Stephen Fillion, will officiate with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-8 P.M. and at the church on Friday after 9:00 A.M.  There will be a Parish Vigil Service for Ellen at 7:00P.M. on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Visitation Church, ARC of Bay County, Temple Theater Organ Club and Herter Keyboard Club.

Benjamin Oliver Coleman III

Benjamin Oliver Coleman III passed away suddenly Friday, February 17, 2012 at U of M Hospital, age 19 months.  He was born June 29, 2010 in Portsmouth, Virginia.

 Surviving are his parents Nicole (Stachowski) & Benjamin Coleman, II, grandparents:  Glenn & Penny Strausser, Kim Finn & Jeff Finn.  Great-grandparents:  Emily Strausser, Jim & Barb Stachowski, Cheryl Finn, Maggie Gaskins, Mary Walker and Johnny Finn.  Also surviving are aunts and uncles:  Jim (Letti) Stachowski, Tim (Jackie) Stachowski, Lisa (Doug) Weiss, Danielle Strausser, Albert (Sue) Strausser, Stephanie Whitaker, Caleb Finn, Lonnie Finn, Chris (Emilie) Morrison and Rachael Jones.  Great aunts and uncles:  Barbara (Raymond) Lukens, Sonja Wren, Brian Finn, Randall Finn and several other aunts, uncles and great aunts, uncles and cousins.

 Funeral service will take place Tuesday, February 21, 2 012 at 7:00 P.M. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Deacon Mike Arnold will officiate with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 2- 7:00 P.M.   Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Family Wishes.

Sandra J. Premo

     Sandra passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region, age 71.  She was born January 2, 1941 in Bay City to the late Edward and Irene (Szymanski) Premo.  Sandra worked for over fifteen years at the Old Bar on Lafayette and was currently employed with 7-11 on the corner of Broadway and Cass Ave.  She was a huge Red Wings fan and enjoyed playing bingo and trying her luck at the casino. 

     Surviving is her son, Robert A. Premo, one brother, James E. (Sandy) Premo, an aunt, Grace Behmlander and cousins, Tom and Carol Behmlander.

     Cremation has taken place.  Family and friends will gather at Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 3:00 to 8:00pm.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”
