Frank W. Zurvalec

Frank passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Bay Regional Medical Center with his family by his side, age 84.  He was born January 14, 1927 in Mount Forest Township to the late John and Mary (Knapp) Zurvalec.  Frank married Mildred C. Brandt; she survives him.  He served his country along with his five brothers during WWII as a medic with the US Navy.  Frank was a Licensed Master Plumber and served for many years as Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector for Portsmouth and Merritt Townships as well as the City of Essexville.  He retired in 1988 as a maintenance pipefitter for Bay City Chevrolet.

     Surviving besides his loving wife of 52 years, Mildred, are his four children: Frank (Jil) Zurvalec Jr., Stephen Zurvalec, Sharon (Kevin) Kram, and Joseph (Maureen) Zurvalec, eight grandchildren: Danielle, Abby, Kelly, and Maggie Zurvalec, Kristopher and Kyle Kram, Brody and Evan Zurvalec, one sister, Helen Brown, two brothers: Benjamin (Julia) and George (Ruth) Zurvalec, three sister in-laws: Lois, Dolores, and Toyoko Zurvalec, one brother in-law, Henry (Kathy) Brandt, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Frank was predeceased by two sisters: Bernice (Joe) Franckiewicz, Nancy (Jim) Blessing, five brothers: John, Stanley, Mike, Bernard, Walter Zurvalec and a brother in-law, Roy Brown.

     A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 1:00pm at Squires Funeral Home.  Nancy Rivet will officiate and inurnment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of services.

     Mildred would like to extend a grateful thank you message to all the special friends; staff and patients at Bay Area Regional Dialysis Center for their thoughtfulness and compassionate care.  “Keep Singing!”

Thomas Lee McCarty

Tom passed away September 24, 2011 in Omaha, Nebraska age 41.  He was born October 25, 1969 in Bay City.  Tom graduated from John Glenn High School where he played various sports.  He enjoyed fishing and skiing.

 Surviving is a son; Noah McCarty, his mother and step-father; Gail A. (Marshall) Reed, his father; James McCarty, three brothers; James & Kenneth McCarty and his twin brother; Timothy (Lisa) McCarty.

 There will be visitation at the Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 2 – 8 p.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Sandra L. Gage (LaVasseur)

Sandra passed away Sunday morning November 13, 2011 at Brian’s House age 69.  Daughter of the late Floyd & Esther (Cass) LeVasseur she was born November 20, 1941 in Bay City.

 

Surviving are five children; Todd (Davina) LeVasseur, Terrance LeVasseur, Bridget (Eric) Albaugh, Scott (Christine) Albaugh, Shane Albaugh, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a God Child; Kathy LeVasseur and two special friends; Patricia Reed and Patricia Blade.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. James Church.  Rev. Fr. Bill Gruden will officiate.  Friends may call at the church only on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Timothy R. Elwell

Tim Elwell passed away Saturday November 12, 2011 surrounded by his family at his home age 64.  He was born April 10, 1947 in Bay City.  He married the former Mary “Ellie” Timm September 26, 2009 and she survives him.  Tim was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Spirit Riders and Alcoholic Anonymous for 22 years.  He truly loved riding his motorcycle.

 

Surviving besides his wife Ellie he leaves three children; Brenda (Fred) Micho, Jeanette (Thomas) Badour, Michael (Michelle) Elwell, eight grandchildren; Ryan, Alyse & Alexis Micho, Aaron & Jordan Badour, Madison, Hannah and Jacob Elwell.  Also surviving is his mother; Luella M. (Norton) Elwell, two brothers and five sisters; Paul Elwell, Charlotte (Wilson) Fournier, Mary (Randy) Podleski, Jacqueline (Paul) Marlow, Michele (Jim) Duford, Margaret Elwell and Robert (Rose) Elwell.  He was predeceased by his father; Robert Elwell and a brother; William Elwell.

 

The family would like to thank McLaren Visiting Nurse and Hospice for the wonderful care given to Tim.  Ellie would also like to thank Keith Holt for all his love and support.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.  Rev. Fr. Craig Albrecht will officiate with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church only on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Owen W. Milks

Mr. Milks Passed away Wednesday November 9, 2011 surrounded by his family at his home age 69.  Son of the late Orville W. & Leila (Hamann) Milks he was born November 24, 1941 in Saginaw.  He married the former Mary Jane Premo December 21, 1960 in Trinity Lutheran Church.  She survives him.  Owen served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for the City of Bay City as a Police Officer for over 30 years before retiring.  Owen was past President of the F.O.P. and loved to go camping, fishing, cooking and spoiling his dog.

 

Surviving besides his wife Mary Jane he leaves two sons; Owen Wade (Suzanne) Milks, Richard Justin (Nicole) Milks, six grandchildren; Jessica Marie, Samantha Marie, Alexandria Marie, Rachael Amanda, Ryan Andrew, Reanne Alyce, one brother in-law; Richard Justin Premo & his partner; Douglas  Harrington, and Owen’s dog “Sassy”.

 

A Memorial Service will take place Saturday November 19, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor A. James Englehart will officiate with private inurnment in Roselawn Cemetery.   Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 – 3 p.m.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Hidden Harvest of Saginaw.

Walter C. Bracher

Mr. Bracher passed away Friday morning November 11, 2011 at his home age 85. Son of the late John & Esther (Brandenstein) Bracher he was born September 16, 1926 in Bay City. He married the former Elaine M. Fanger June 19, 1948 in Zion Lutheran Church. She survives him. Mr. Bracher served in the U.S. Army and worked for Peoples National Bank for many years before retiring. Walt was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and loved to play golf.

 

Surviving besides his wife Elaine he leaves three daughters; Linda (Thomas) Langenburg, Sharon (Tom) Hall, Marsha (Lowell) Horneber, five grandchildren; Erin Langenburg & her companion, Julien Fredeveaux, Marc (Leslie) McKee, Matthew (Nikki) McKee, Hannah, T.J. Hall, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and one brother; John (Lucille) Bracher. He was predeceased by one sister; Janice (Howard) Lawitzke.

 

Funeral Service will take place Tuesday November 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Squires Funeral Home. Pastor Leroy Westphal will officiate with private burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Monday from 2 – 5 & 6 – 8 p.m. and on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society-Bay Co. Unit or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
