Helen J. Ahrens

Helen Ahrens passed away Saturday October 15, 2011 at Brian’s House age 81 years.  Daughter of the late Alexander & Nellie (King) Osmus she was born June 19, 1930 in Saginaw.  She married Lyle Ahrens, April 30, 1949, in Saginaw.  He predeceased her December 22, 2010.  Helen was a member of the Faith Church of the Nazarene where she spent most of her time in church activities and serving God.  She was active as a church greeter, choir member, Adult Sunday School Teacher & worker, Missionary President and participated in the bus ministries.  During her retirement years, Helen and Lyle vacationed in Phoenix and Milwaukee, visiting her children and grandchildren.  Helen was a wonderful and loving grandmother to her grandchildren.

 Surviving are four children; Lyle W. Ahrens Jr., Ronald L. (Mary) Ahrens, Cynthia (Jim) Opp, Paul (Nancy) Ahrens, six grandchildren; Ronnie (Shannon) Ahrens, Elizabeth, Steven & Brian Ahrens, Amber (Tim) Bauer, Elizabeth Ahrens-Opp, four great-grandchildren; Daniel & Claire Ahrens, Noah and Ethan Bauer.  Also surviving is one sister; Betty Broemser, one brother; Duane (Nancy) Osmus, two brothers in-law; Louis Winget, Jim Cronkright and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a granddaughter; Melissa Ahrens, three sisters; Lola Winget, Hazel Cronkright, Delores Glazier, one brother; Robert Rix and her dog; Prince.

 The family would like to thank the staff at the Bay Regional Medical Center and Brian’s House for the excellent care that was given to Helen. They would also like to thank Pastor Kingsbury for his devoted friendship over the years.

 Funeral Service will take place Saturday October 22, 2011 at 11:00a.m. from Faith Church of the Nazarene Church.  Rev. Dwight W. Kingsbury will officiate with burial in Elm Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 10:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, Faith Church of the Nazarene or family wishes.

Lynda Keyser

Lynda passed away Saturday October 15, 2011 at Brian’s House age 56 years.  Daughter of the late Donald & Ellen (Rich) Keyser she was born September 25, 1955 in Bay City.  Lynda worked for Arnold Center-MI. Works.  She enjoyed doing genealogy and spending time with her dog- Mandy Mae.

 

Surviving are two sons; Brad & Paul McKellip, four sisters and a brother; Shirley Griebe, Sandra Pitts, Marilyn (Terry) Wackerle, Kathy (Troy) Crosby, Art Keyser and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her loving companion; Ric Poole.

 

Funeral Service will take place Tuesday October 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Chaplain Joe Atchinson will officiate with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Monday from 2 – 8 p.m. and on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m.   Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Victor M. Jaskiewicz

The beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather Victor M. Jaskiewicz passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 at the age of 88.  He was born on January 11, 1923 to the late Felix and Victoria (Olejniczak) Jaskiewicz of Bay City, Michigan.  Victor attended St. Stanislaus School and also played baseball and softball for St. Stanislaus A.C.  Victor married the late Maxine Bujarski on November 20, 1948 at St. Hyacinth Church.  Victor and Maxine have twelve children, James (Jan) Jaskiewicz, Robert (Linnea) Jaskiewicz, Gerald (Beth) Jaskiewicz, Ann (Ed) Richardson, Richard (Pam) Jaskiewicz, Barbara (Dave) Sitton, Paul (Tammy) Jaskiewicz, Vicky (Mike) Schultz, Roger (Helen) Jaskiewicz, Tom (Vickie) Jaskiewicz, Jacqueline (Paul) Sitton, and Melissa (John) Ioannidis; twenty-six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother Jim, a sister Romaine Marlow and a sister-in-law Rita Beaudin.  Victor had five brothers and three sisters.  He was predeceased by four brothers John, Dominic, Daniel and Bernard and two sisters Felixa and Delphine Panico.

 

Victor served in the Army Air Force during WWII as a sergeant and received several medals:  Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge, Carbine Marksman, two Overseas Service Bars, and the China, India, and Burma Ribbons with three Battle Stars.

 Victor was employed at Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry for 25 years and retired in 1985.  Victor enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, and bingo.  He also loved gardening, woodworking, painting, and watching sports on television.

 The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Sterling House of Bay City where he spent his last five years.  A “thank you” also goes out to McLaren Visiting Nurse & Hospice for making Victor comfortable in his last days.

 Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. from St. Hyacinth Church.  Rev. Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 18th from 2-8 P.M. and at the church on Wednesday after 9:00 A.M.  There will be a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Family Wishes.

Mara Lee Deladurantaye

Mara Lee Deladurantaye passed away peacefully, with her family at her side on Friday, September 7, 2011 at Sparrow Medical Center in Lansing.  Age 72 years.  She was born in Bay City, MI to the late Lee and Helen (Larssen) DeLorge on June 9, 1939.  On October 19, 1957 she married the love of her life, Thomas Deladurantaye.  Together they had five children, daughters Joan (William) Ritz , Melanie (Robert) Burns, and sons Joseph and Raymond III (Dorothy) Deladurantaye.  Mara was pre-deceased by her son Michael and her in-laws Ray and Bea Deladurantaye and sister-in-law Jeanne DeLorge.  Mara cherished her grandchildren Edward, Tina, Rebecca, Sarah, Raymond IV, Stephanie, Joseph J., Robert T., Cody, Samantha and Michael Jr., along with 10 great grandchildren and two brothers, Tom DeLorge of Vass, NC and Stan (Jackie) DeLorge of Bay City.

 

The Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville.  Friends may call at the Niblack Funeral Home in Fowlerville on Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

 

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Sparrow Hospital CCU for the professional and compassionate care given to Mara during her time of need.

Donald J. Volders Sr.

Volders-bctDonald Volders passed away early Friday morning October 7, 2011 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center age 73 years.  Son of the late William & Adeline (Bladecki) Volders he was born April 2, 1938 in Bay City.  He married the former Trudy L. Hines June 12, 1992.  She survives him.  Don worked at Wirt Transport for over 26 years before retiring.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching baseball.

 Surviving besides his wife Trudy he leaves seven children; Linda (Ron) Podgorniak, Donald Volders Jr. & his girlfriend Margaret McDonald, Jerry Foco & his girlfriend Dee Brown, Robert (Misty) Volders, Rochel Genge, Dana Miller, Jill (Robert) Ringmen, 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother; William (Beverly) Volders, three sisters; Nancy Lowe, Donna Belonga, Brenda (Dave) Brandenburg, his dog; Libby, many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

 The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses, therapist and employees of Heartland Home Health Care for the wonderful care that was given to Don.

 Funeral service will take place Monday October 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 – 9 p.m. and on Monday after 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Clara M. Metzgar

Clara passed away Saturday October 1, 2011 at the Cartwright Center age 83 years.  Daughter of the late Charles & Annie (Willard) Aldrich she was born September 21, 1928 in Bay City.  She married Gilbert Metzgar January 22, 1955 in Freeland.  He predeceased her in 1980.   Clara worked as a Travel Agent for most of her life and she enjoyed traveling and reading.

 Surviving are two step-children; Roger (Janet) Metzgar, Sandy (Dale) Hecht, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is one sister; Ida Howard and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a daughter; Mona Marie Metzgar, two sisters and a brother; Lucy (Frank) Passariello, Hattie (Dick) Leidy, Willard (Iola) Aldrich.

 A Memorial Service will take place Friday October 14, 2011 at 12 noon from the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Ken Cline, Pastor Amber Shaw and Pastor Jeff Ralph will officiate with inurnment in Garfield Twp. Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer Foundation or New Life Christian Fellowship.
