     Sadie passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at The Carriage House of Bay City, age 103.  She was born May 21, 1907 in Kawkawlin to the late Stanley and Eleanora (Matuszewski) Szeszulski.  Sadie married Leo Grocholski on July 5, 1926; he predeceased her on May 11, 1986.  She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Rosary/Altar Society Group #12, Felician Sisters Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and the League of Catholic Women & Men.  Sadie enjoyed making Rosaries and made over 10,000 of them for St. Stanislaus Church.

     Surviving are four children: Eugene (Lila) Grocholski, Louise Szczepanski, Mary Ann (Patrick) Goslin, and Leo N. (Shirley) Grocholski, 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.  Sadie was predeceased by one grandson, David Grocholski, one son in-law, Eugene Szczepanski, two brothers and six sisters.

     The Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be celebrated Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Richard M. Filary will celebrate Mass and private interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and Friday at church after 9:00am.  Members of St. Stan’s Rosary Group #12 will pray the Rosary Thursday at 3:00pm, followed later by a Parish Vigil Service at 6:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials by be directed to St. Stanislaus Campus Development Fund.

     Sadie’s family would like to thank The Carriage House staff, especially Paula, Tracey and everyone who made Sadie’s stay on 1-West very comfortable.

     Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 96.  Mary was born December 28, 1914 in Bay City to the late Gregory and Johanna (Stalmach) Kondziola.  She married Andrew Witucki in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on September 5, 1938; he predeceased her on December 13, 2005.  She was a member of St. Hyacinth Church, Rosary/Altar Society and volunteered on the funeral luncheons.  Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and maintaining her beautiful roses.

     Surviving are three children: Audrey Packard, Diane Karner, and LeRoy (Sandy) Witucki, seven grandchildren: Kelly (Dennis) Divo, Craig Packard, Chad (Andria) Packard, Holly (Brian) Lewis, Lisa Witucki, and Lori (Chris) Niedzwiecki, eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Victoria (Allie) Wawrzynak.  Mary was predeceased by an infant daughter, Andrea, one son, Andrew J. Witucki, one grandson, Keith Packard, two son in-laws: Gerald L. Karner and James Packard, four brothers and one sister.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Hyacinth Church.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will celebrate Mass.  Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Friday after 10:00am.  Members of St. Hyacinth Rosary/Altar Society will pray the Rosary Thursday at 2:00pm, followed later by a Parish Vigil Service for Mary at 7:00pm.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

     Mary’s family would like to thank all the staff at Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home for their wonderful care they gave our mother.

Virginia P. Blossey

      Blosssey-bctVirginia passed away Wednesday January 12, 2011 at the Bay Regional Medical Center age 79 years.  Daughter of the late John & Bernice (Filarski) Schefke she was born June 3, 1931 in Belknap Twp.  She married Robert R. Blossey in 1973.  He predeceased her July 29, 1980.  Virginia was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Past President of the Rosary/Altar Sodality where she belong to group # 1, Senior Citizens, Legion of Mary, League of Catholic Women and Men, Past President of the Eagles Aerie #1010 Auxiliary, Past Commander and Life Member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary, Past Senior Regent of the Moose Lodge #367, Past President of the National Association of the Physically Handicapped, Retired Eagle Activity Club and Eagles District 5 chairperson and a member VFW Ladies Auxiliary #485.  Virginia was a very loving, caring and spiritual person who will be missed by us all.

 

     Surviving are five children: John Dehring, Suzanne (Stevens) Jacobs, Mary Louise (Paul) Caspers, Sandy (James) Koebke, Gerald & David Dehring, 46 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving are two sisters: Clara Mulka, Theresa (James) Ohlrich and one brother: Leonard (Jackie) Schefke.  She was predeceased by two sons: Robert & Raymond Blossey, two daughters: Geraldine Stanley, Madelyn Gould and one brother and two sisters: Louis (Rosemary) Shefke, Mary (Steve) Majeski and Blanche (Norm) Johnson.

 

    The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday January 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Richard M. Filary will officiate with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 12:30 p.m.  Members of St. Stan’s Rosary/Altar Sodality and Senior Citizens will pray the rosary at 2:00 p.m. Friday followed by a parish vigil service for Virginia at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Stanislaus Campus Development Fund or Bay Area Women’s Center.

     kattphotoOur loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. Mary’s of Michigan with her family by her side, age 73.  Nancy was born June 5, 1937 in Bay City to the late Stanley and Alma M. (Gorney) Stefaniak.  She married Kenneth C. Katt on January 9, 1979, he survives her.  She worked in the hospitality and food service business as an owner and operator for many years.  Nancy was a member of St. Hyacinth Church and St. Hyacinth Funeral Luncheon Team #6.  She was also a member of the PLAV and enjoyed, cooking, sewing, embroidery, and cake decorating, bingo, cards, and trying her luck at the casino.  Nancy was also a lifelong voracious reader of all types of books. 

    Surviving besides her husband, Ken, are five children: Lisa (Al) Willy, John (Tracy) LeTourneau, Jeff (Judy) LeTourneau, Linda (Jerry) Korthals, and Laura Ball, two step-children:  Corinna (Paul) Baldwin and Brian (Lisa) Katt, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, two sisters: Betty (Tom) Neering and Leona (Dave) Huggard, three brother in-laws: Don (Pat) Katt, Robert (Monica) Katt, Tony Katt and Nancy’s pet “boys”, Behr and Buddie.  Nancy was predeceased by a son, Jim LeTourneau.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Hyacinth Church.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will celebrate Mass.  Friends may call at Ambrose Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Tuesday after 9:00am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Boys and Girls Club of Bay City or St. Hyacinth Catholic Church.

Frank N. Smrecak

    smrecakphoto Frank passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011, age 67.  He was born September 1, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan to Frank and Helen (Clark) Smrecak.  Frank married Karen J. Charbonneau on August 28, 1997, she survives him.  Frank was a Vietnam Veteran and served his country with the US Army.  He owned and operated Smrecak Tax Service for over twenty years and was a member of the Eagles Aeries #3544 in Comins, MI, Muskrat Club and the AM Vets Chapter #22 in Bay City.  Frank enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, traveling and four-wheeling.  He also, loved spending time and sharing stories with his grandchildren. 

     Surviving besides his wife, Karen, are three children: Matthew Smrecak, Ben (Carolyn) Smrecak, and Jodi (Troy) Mitchell, five grandchildren: Brandon, Jacob and Dakota Smrecak, Zaiden and Zar’ria Mitchell, Frank’s mother, Helen Smrecak, four sisters and three brothers: Sandy (Albert) Evans, Janet (Larry) Brugh, Sharon (Jim) LaVeck, Jim (friend, Carol) Smrecak, Stanley Smrecak, Cindy (Paul) Pasant, Don (Lori) Smrecak and Frank’s “partner in crime”, his puppy, Buddie.  Frank was predeceased by his father, Frank Smrecak.

     A Memorial Service for Frank will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 6:00pm at Ambrose Funeral Home.  Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00pm until the time of service.  Military Honors for Frank will be held Friday at 3:00pm, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to AM Vets Chapter #22 in Bay City.

Raymond J. Goulet

Raymond J. Goulet of Bay City, Michigan,
passed away on Friday January 7, 2011
at Bay Regional Medical Center at the fine
age of 91 years.  The son of the late
Tressa(Chesney) and Alfred Goulet he was
born on May 22, 1919. At an early age Ray
entered the US Army and saw action in the
Philippines, Australia, and New Guinea
during WW2.  During this period Ray met
his future partner in life, Catherine M. Mellon,
who was his nurse in a Military Field Hospital.
The two became married in July of 1944 in Australia.
Upon an Honorable Discharge, Raymond and
Katie returned to the USA and lived for a
period of time in Delaware; and finally returned
to live in Bay City.  Raymond was a partner in the
Clifford & Goulet Auto Service Station. He later
worked for the Bay Refinery Co. of the Dow Chemical
Company and then Brennan Marine Sales.
Ray was an avid fisherman and spent most
of his summers fishing and camping with friends in
Northern Michigan pursuing Walleye, and Salmon.
 Raymond was predeceased by Katie in 1999 and leaves
behind two children, Janet Dehmel (Mike Rivas)
and John Goulet, seven grandchildren: Eric & Jacob Goulet, Tabitha, Ben, David, Christopher Snider, Naomi (Ryan) Ives, three great-grandchildren: Tyler, Nick and Jacob Snider. Also surviving is two sisters in-law: Jimmy Lou & Patricia Goulet.  He was predeceased by a sister: Mary (Jack) Luczak and four brothers: Albert, Harry, George and Joseph.
Raymond will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
