Geraldine J. Kowalkowski

KOWALKOWSKI

            Mrs. Kowalkowski passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Bay Medical Care Facility, age 86 years.  She was born on May 24, 1924 to the late Walter and Theresa (Rinz) Polom in Bay City.  She married Arthur Kowalkowski at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on February 20, 1950 and he survives her.  Geraldine was a graduate of Central High School and was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, the Rosary/Altar Society Group #1, Felician Sisters Auxiliary, D.A.V. Auxiliary and the League of Catholic Women and Men.

 

            Surviving, beside her husband Arthur, are her daughters Ardith (Kenneth) Reszke, Marsha (George) Thomas and Gretchen (Mark) Smith along with grand children Stephanie, Josh and Zachary Reske, Jeremy, Derrek and Amanda Thomas and step grand children Melissa and Chad Thomas, 4 great grand children and 5 step great grand children.  Geraldine is also survived by her sister Patricia (Edward) LaVictor and her sister-in-law Patricia Wenglikowski.

 

            Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass followed by private entombment at St. Patrick’s Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.  Members of the Rosary/Altar Society, Felician Sisters Auxiliary will pray the Rosary Sunday at 2:00 p.m. followed by the parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Stanislaus Campus Development Fund or the ARC of Bay County.

Anne H. Mehlhose

     Anne passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 77.  She was born August 11, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Thomas H. and Antoinette (Kaelin) Bowling.  Anne was a teacher in the Bangor Township School District for over 30 years and a member of Faith Lutheran Church.  She received accreditation as a Master Diver in scuba diving and enjoyed gardening and sailing.

     Surviving are four children: Cheryl A. Kimbrue, Thomas H. Grant, Barbara K. Debo, and Adam R. (Toni) Grant, ten grandchildren: Caleb and Lauren Kimbrue, Christian T. Grant, Katie, Abby, Ellie Debo, Matthew, Justin, Cody, Charlie Grant, four great grandchildren: Karter Kimbrue, Alex, Justin and Zachary Grant.  Anne was predeceased by a grandson, Alex Grant. 

     Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:00pm at Squires Funeral Home.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00am until the time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.

     Anne’s children would like to thank all the staff members at Clare Bridge in Bay City and Auburn Care Center for their kind and compassionate care they gave mom and her entire family.

Viola “June” Loomis

Mrs. Loomis passed away Monday December 20, 2010 at Huron Woods Nursing Home age 96 years.  Daughter of the late Jay & Elizabeth (Tackman) Corry she was born June 1, 1914 in Bay City.  She married Herald A. Loomis February 1, 1937.  He predeceased her in 2003.  June worked at Sears for many years as a Sales Clerk.  She attended Kawkawlin Community Church.  June enjoyed collecting tea cups, dolls and loved to crochet, knit and make ceramics.

 Surviving is one son: Thomas (Mary) Loomis, a son in-law: Richard Birky, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a daughter: Royal Birky, a granddaughter: Debbie Acker and five sisters.

 Funeral service will take place Thursday December 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Rev. David L. Dunn will officiate with burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

John G. Buczek

     buczekphotoJohn passed away peacefully Sunday, December 19, 2010 at his home, age 61.  He was born May 4, 1949 in Bay City to the late Loretta (Wachowiak) Buczek.  John was predeceased by his loving step-father “Pa”, Joseph Stepek and his father, Frank Buczek.  He married Michele L. Phelps in St. Joseph Catholic Church on June 21, 1969 and she survives him.  John served his country in the US Army Reserves for eight years.  He was a machine assembler at Newcor Inc., for over 20 years and was currently in the skilled trade machine repair department at Delphi/Nexteer Automotive.  John was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and enjoyed golf with his son, daughter and granddaughter.  He also enjoyed bowling and vacations with his wife.  John especially loved spending time with his family.  He was a special family man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

     Surviving is his wife, Michele, his son, Corey and Lecia Buczek, his daughter, Renee L. Buczek, his granddaughter, Kenedy Buczek, John’s special dog, Nikki “Poochie”, one brother, Leonard Buczek, one sister, Andrea Deshaw, two sister in-laws: Pam Schatzer and Kip LeBeau, very special aunt and uncle, Cathy and Ed Wachowiak, and several other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  John was predeceased by his father and mother in-law, Kyle and Mary Phelps, one brother in-law, Terry Schatzer, and two nephews: Kyle and Michael Schatzer.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  Fr. Bert Gohm will celebrate Mass and graveside interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 to 8:30pm and at church on Wednesday after 9:00am.  A Parish Vigil Service for John will be held Tuesday at 7:30pm at the funeral home.  Per John’s request, memorial contributions may be directed to Multiple Sclerosis.

     graczykdarrenphotoDarren passed away peacefully Friday, December 17, 2010 at his home, age 42.  The son of Leonard “Red” and Joyce (Engelhardt) Graczyk, he was born December 21, 1967 in Bay City.  He graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1986 and then went on to Western Michigan University where he received his Electrical Engineering Bachelors Degree in Science in 1994.  He was the Senior Engineering Manager at TRW Automotive in Livonia, MI and traveled internationally with his career.  In 1997 Darren obtained a certificate of completion from Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving and in 2001 was granted a US Patent for his Electronic Brake Proportioning on Anti-Lock Brake Systems.  Darren loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.  He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and driving his BMW car.  He loved traveling the world and taking special trips with his mother to Las Vegas.  He enjoyed floor hockey, golf, volleyball, disc golf, and riding his motorcycle with family and friends in charity rides.  Darren had a special place in his heart for his family and family events.  His mom’s cooking was the best and perch dinners at the Oasis Lounge were also a favorite of his.  Everyone who knew him, family, friends and co-workers will always miss him and have great memories of him.

     Surviving are his parents, Leonard J. “Red” and Joyce E. Graczyk, Darren’s Godparents and brother, Robert Alan (Kathy) Graczyk, sister, Joni (James) Castelli, and a brother, Dale (Donna) Graczyk,  two God daughters and nieces: Cristyn (Slater) Castelli-Hawes and Briana Graczyk, two special nephews, “like brothers”, Bryan (Karen) and Brad (Vicki) and four other nieces and nephew: Arynne (Bill), Lindsay (Jason), Ryan, Caira, a great nephew, Gavin, two aunts: Charlotte Alcorn and Edith Mindykowski, and an uncle, Gerald (Nancy) Engelhardt.  Darren was predeceased by his grandparents: Stanley (Angline) Graczyk and William (Edith) Engelhardt and one nephew, Matthew Graczyk.

     The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00am at the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and Thursday after 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Matthew Graczyk Michigan Football Sponsorship or the Humane Society.

Joseph A. Pawlicki

Joseph A. Pawlicki passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010,  age 87 years.   Joseph was born on March 9, 1923 to the late Samuel and Bernice (Wachowiak) Pawlicki in Bay City.

 

He was retired from the Bay County Road Commission and served in the U. S. Army during WW II. Joe was a member St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and St. Stephen Council 4102 of the Knights of Columbus.

 

Surviving is a sister, Helen Gorzycki of AZ, along with several nieces and nephews.  Mr. Pawlicki was predeceased by three sisters:  Mary Mulligan, Irene Agdanowski and Leona Demary and his brother Eugene Pawlicki.

 

Funeral Mass will take place Monday, December 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  The celebrant will be Fr. Rick Filary with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.  The parish vigil service for Joe will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday followed by the K of C Resolution of Condolance.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family wishes.
