Penny L. Dukarski (Leske)

     Penny passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Brian’s House, age 58.  She was born October 11, 1951 in Bay City to the late Arthur and Luetta (Kitner) Leske. 

     Surviving is a son, Michael (fiancée, Jackie) Leske, one grandson, Damian, one sister, Diane Walczak, and two brothers; Walter (Elayne) and David (Shan) Leske.  Penny was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Dukarski, two brothers; Tim and Pete Leske and a sister, Virginia Summerfield.

     Cremation has taken place.  A Graveside Prayer Service for Penny will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 11:00am at Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Pastor Joe Atchinson will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to “Family Wishes.”

Fannie L. Tarkowski “Faye”

    tarkowskiphoto Faye passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at her residence, age 88.  She was born August 18, 1922 in Arenac County to the late Alvin and Fannie (Berry) Gawne.  She married Daniel W. Tarkowski on July 8, 1961 and he survives her.  Faye was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and the Altar Society.  She loved the outdoors and made many memories with her husband Daniel as they went fishing, golfing and practiced archery.

     Surviving besides her husband, Daniel, are two daughters; Debra Schroeder and Donna (Glenn) Volk, one daughter in-law, Gladys Fitzgibbon, three grandchildren; Kathleen (Jeff) Lawson, Bryan (Jamie) Fitzgibbon, and Ben Volk, three great grandchildren; Allison Schroeder, Robert and Aryn Fitzgibbon, four sisters; Edna Holtzapple, Wilma Rice, Alvina Gawne, and Isabelle Clark, two brothers; Alvin and John Gawne,  special friend and niece, Linda Switala, many other nieces, nephews, and friends.  Faye was predeceased by two sons; Robert and Jerald Fitzgibbon, one grandson, Chad Schroeder and a sister, Eva Melvin.

     The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 10:00am at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.  Fr. Robert J. Meissner will officiate and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 & 6:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Tuesday after 9:00am.  In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be directed to Heartland Hospice.

     Daniel would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. James Campau and his staff at Riverview Medical for so many years of friendship and compassionate care they gave Faye.  Also, to all the staff at Heartland Hospice and Carriage House for their kind and soft touch.

Richard B. Leppek “Dick”

 Mr. Leppek passed away on Thursday September 23, 2010 at Brian’s House surrounded by his family age 74 years.  Son of the late Boniface & Eleanore (Blackburn) Leppek he was born March 5, 1936 in Bay City.  He married the former Kathleen Oblender April 18, 1959 at St. Stanislaus and has celebrated over 51 years of marriage.  She survives him.  Dick served in the National Guard and worked at Bay City Chevrolet for many years before retiring.  He was a member of St. Hyacinth Church, Ushers Club, Past President of Southend Little League and Past President of Riverbend Association in the U.P.  Mr. Leppek enjoyed working with wood and built poker tables and deer blinds for his boys. Dick loved his children and grandchildren very much and would attend all of their sporting events.  He truly treasured the times going to his property in the U.P.

 Surviving besides his wife Kathleen he leaves three children; Terence (Pam) Leppek, Timothy (Sherri) Leppek, Tracey (Timothy) Maguire, 8 grandchildren; Terra (Ben) Hugo, Tabitha, Tylha, Tessa Leppek, Abigail & Matthew Leppek, Shayne & Brooke Maguire, one brother; Gerald Leppek, three sisters in-law; Marion (Doug) Markillie, Janet (Roy) Majeske, Dorothy (Fred) Nowak, two aunts and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother in-law and father in-law; Godfrey & Frieda Oblender and a sister in-law; Karen Leppek.

 Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday September 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Hyacinth Church.  Rev. Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday after 12 noon.  There will be a parish vigil service for Dick at 7:00 p.m. Sunday.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Brian’s House or St. Hyacinth Church Building Fund.

Eugene T. Matuszewski “Geno Matthews”

 Gene passed away Wednesday September 22, 2010 at the Bay Regional Medical Center age 82 years.  Son of the late Anthony & Helen (Gradowski) Matuszewski he was born July 27, 1928 in Bay City.  He married the former Helen F. Volk July 26, 1952 in St. James Church.  She predeceased him September 1, 2006.  Gene served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Matuszewski retired from McDonald Pontiac-Cadillac- GMC dealership of Saginaw.  He was a member of St. Hyacinth Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling.

 Surviving are his three children; a son Joseph and his wife Tanya Matthews of Purcellville, VA., a daughter Anne and her husband Thomas Piorkowski of Essexville, MI., a son Kenneth and his wife Ann Matuszewski of Purcellville, VA., four grandchildren; Katherine Piorkowski, John & Mark Matthews and David Matuszewski.  Also surviving is a sister in-law; Virginia Matuszewski, many nieces, nephews, dear friends; Jim, Sue & Amy Kusmierz, a caring friend; Maria Jabalera Martinez and many loving neighbors.  He was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters; Edwin (Sophie), Leonard (Eleanor), Anthony, Florence Matuszewski, Sally (Jack) Kuras, Delphine (Marion) Wisniewski, Evelyn (Gene) Markiecki and Leona (Leonard) Filary.

 Funeral Service will take place Monday September 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veteran’s Council.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. and on Monday after 9:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

     gingerphotoOur loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at her home with her family by her side, age 47.  The daughter of Barry and Dorothy (Burns) Doran, she was born October 18, 1962 in Bay City.  Sherry married Michael J. Ginger and he survives her.  She was a Security Officer with Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant.

     Surviving is her husband, Michael, six children; Katrina Hogue, Ashley, Daniel, Michael William, Jeremy, and Corri Ginger, seven grandchildren; Austin Jarvis, James Hogue V, Jordyn Hogue, Mikal, Hannah, Nevaeh Ginger, and Kaylee Parish, Sherry’s parents, Barry (Helen) Doran and Dottie McLean, eight brothers and sisters; David and Bill Doran, Dawn Espitia, Lisa McDonald, Pat Roznowski, Denise Evans, Joseph Martinez, and Julie McDonald.  Sherry was predeceased by a daughter, Angel Marie Jarvis, one grandson, Jeremiah Hyatt and a brother, Barry Doran.

     The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 10:00am at Squires Funeral Home.  Rev. Linda Pye will officiate and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and Saturday after 9:00am.

Charles L. Baumer

 Mr. Baumer passed away suddenly Tuesday September 21, 2010 at his home age 77 years.  Son of the late William & Lilly (Sabrow) Baumer he was born September 15, 1933 in Zilwaukee, Michigan.  He married the former Mary Ann Rytlewski September 25, 1954 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  She survives him.  Mr. Baumer was a member of St. Mary’s Church and was a very avid golfer where he enjoyed playing at Spring Valley with all of his friends.  Chuck always treasured his moments fishing with his grandchildren.  He loved to watch his Notre Dame Football and being outdoors.

 Surviving besides his wife Mary Ann he leaves five children; James (Tina) Baumer, Chuck (Mary Alice) Baumer, Peggy (Jim) Richard, Jacqueline (John) Krause, Terry Baumer, thirteen grandchildren; Sean, Andrea, Jennifer, Rachel, Matthew, Brad, Bridgette, Marcus, Chuckie, Jason, Teresa, Jordan, Paige and one great-grandson; Zachary.  Also surviving is one brother; Robert (Shirley) Baumer, one sister; Shirley (Coy) Davenport, brother in-law; Roy Pine, special friends; Keith (Myra) Rudy, Eileen and many other special friends.  He was predeceased by a son; William, a daughter in-law; Julie Baumer, one sister; Lois Pine and a brother; Donald Baumer.

 Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.  Fr. Craig Albrecht will officiate with entombment in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday from 1 – 5 & 6 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday after 9:00 a.m.  There will be a parish vigil service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday.   Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.
