Beatrice M. Gronlund

Flint, Michigan

 Mrs. Gronlund passed away Wednesday April 28, 2010 at Huron Woods Nursing Center age 89 years.  Daughter of the late Frank & Leona (Collier) Ryers she was born June 7, 1920 in Essexville, MI.  Beatrice married Joseph Kraycs.  He predeceased her.  She then married Albert A. Gronlund and he also predeceased her.  Mrs. Gronlund was a member of the World Wide Church of God.

 Surviving are two children; Joan (Robert) Lawrence, Barbara Jacobs, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one sister; Ruth Gilmore.  She was predeceased by a son; Jerry Kraycs and a brother.

 There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.  A private graveside service will take place at a later date.

Robert W. Chryczek

Bay City, Michigan

      Bob passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 54.  He was born June 14, 1955 in Bay City to the late Edward and Dorothy (Lauzon) Chryczek.  Bob owned and operated Hi-Way Collision for several years until his retirement in 2004.  He was a member of St. Hyacinth Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries 1010.  Bob was a wonderful and kind hearted father.  He loved to cook, barbeque, garden and paint. 

     Surviving are two daughters; Jodi and Wendy Chryczek, one grandchild on the way in July, one brother, Tom Chryczek, one sister, Dorothy “Dottie” (Tim) Zube, two nieces, Rachel Chryczek and Sarah Zube and a nephew, Timothy Zube.  Bob was predeceased by a brother, Michael Chryczek.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:00am at St. Hyacinth Church.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will celebrate Mass and interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Saturday after 9:00am.  A Parish Vigil Service for Bob will be held Friday at 3:00pm at the funeral home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”

     Bob’s family would like to thank Dr. Schisler, the nurses with Active Community Nursing, his friends and extended family for their kind words and compassionate care they gave him over the past several months.

Lorena E. Gunther

 Mrs. Gunther passed away Friday April 23, 2010 at Heartland Hampton age 97 years.  She was born March 31, 1913 in Bay City to the late John & Mary (Kranzlein) Garner.   She was united in marriage to Aleck L. Gunther November 5, 1930.   He predeceased her May 10, 1965.  Lorena worked at Prestolite for over 39 years before retiring.  She was very active in the retiree’s group at Prestolite and Area 4 retirees.  Lorena was an active Local 526 Union member and served 8 years as a Committee Woman retiring in 1973.  Mrs. Gunther was a life time member of First United Church of Christ and the Friendship Circle.

 Surviving is one daughter; Noreen (Harold) Conley, one son; James (Dixie) Gunther, ten grandchildren; Kaylynn (Rick) Olszowy, Mike and Lynn Conley, Keven (Paul) Pfenninger, Laurie (Jeff) Hamme, Mark (Sue) Conley, Aleck II. (Amy) Gunther, Jamie (Robert) Habowski, Gregory (Connie) Gunther, Pamala (Jeffery) Brock, Scott Gunther, twenty two great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, several nephews, nieces and cousins.  She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters; Arthur, Rudolph & John Garner, Viola Olson and Florence Greenwood.

 The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Heartland Hampton for their compassion and care.

 Funeral service will take place Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Freda Lawther will officiate with private burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider First United Church of Christ or charity of their choice.

Peter H. Schneider

Coconut Creek, Florida

 Peter H. Schneider age 58 of Coconut Creek FL., passed away Monday April 19, 2010.  Son of the late Harold & Frances (Mika) Schneider he was born November 19, 1951 in Highland Park, Michigan and moved to Florida in the early 70’s where he met Ronnie the love of his life in 1982.  He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to always make everything alright.

 Surviving is his loving partner Ronald Paeth who will forever love and miss him.  Also surviving are two brothers; Daniel (Tara) Schneider, Lawrence J. (Deborah) Schneider and a large loving family from both his and Ronnie’s side and many loving and caring friends.

 Funeral Service will take place Saturday April 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Squires Funeral Home.  Rev. Fr. George Serour will officiate with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Friday from 5 – 9 p.m. and on Saturday after 10:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Lorraine J. Basner (Schalk)

      basnerphotoLorraine passed away Monday, April 19, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 56.  She was born December 15, 1953 in Bay City to the late Floyd and Ellen (Reinhardt) Schalk.  She married Stanley “Mike” Basner on October 3, 1981 and he predeceased her on February 6, 2009.  Lorraine was an avid bingo player, a member of the Church of Daniels Band and a life member of the AM Vets Post 22 Auxiliary.

     Surviving are five children; John Basner, Alan (Heather) Gower, Shannon Basner, Brent Basner, and Tevin Basner, seven grandchildren; Alan and Katie Gower, Corrina Obermiller, Keaton, Madelyne, Paul, and Elayna Basner, three brothers; Floyd (Brenda), Monte, and Dale (Diane) Schalk, five brother in-laws; Robert “Butch” (Meredith), Dewey (Darlene), Sam (Gail), Harry, and Kenneth (Debra) Basner, and special friends; Jack (Dar) Pennel, Roger Badour, and Katie Doyle.  Lorraine was predeceased by three brothers; Mark, Steven, and Chad Schalk.

     The Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11:00am at the Squires Funeral Home.  Pastor Jim Huggard will officiate and graveside interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00pm and Friday after 10:00am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes” or the Fresenius Dialysis Center in Essexville.

Grace F. Ryczek

 Mrs. Ryczek died Sunday April 18, 2010 at the Tender Care Nursing Home of Midland age 87 years.  Daughter of the late Edwin C. Weber Sr. and Lucy C. (Glaza) O’Brien she was born January 28, 1923 in Bay City.  She married Raymond J. Ryczek.  He predeceased her April 8, 1972.  Grace was a member of St. Hyacinth Church.

 Surviving are four children; Linda (Marion) McGee, Timothy Ryczek, Thomas Ryczek, James (Debra) Ryczek, seven grandchildren; Laurie McGee-Kowalski and her husband Scott, Lisa McGee M.D., Raymond, Andrew, Cody, Jason Ryczek & John Ryczek and his fiancée Ashley Low.  Also surviving is one brother and two sisters; Robert Weber, Charlotte (Victor) Latocki and Jeanne (Bob) Rezler.  She was predeceased by a grandson, two sisters and a brother.

 Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday April 23, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. from St. Hyacinth Church.  Rev. Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will officiate with private inurnment in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church only on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until time of mass.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Hyacinth Church.
