Obituaries

Mrs. Bailey passed away Thursday December 30, 2010 at Tender Care Nursing Home in Cass City age 86 years.  She was born January 27, 1924 in West Branch.  Dorothy married Glenn Bailey.  He predeceased her.  Mrs. Bailey was a Seamstress for Dapper – Do for many years.

 Surviving are three sisters: Darlene Valley, Lucille Pauley, Loretta Reiss, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters.

 Cremation has taken place with private inurnment in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Bay City, Michigan

     Kasha passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 54.  The daughter of Gerald and Bernadette (Lerczak) Graczyk she was born February 15, 1956 in Bay City.  She married Timothy J. Dabrowski and he predeceased her on October 8, 2008.  Kasha attended St. Hedwig Grade School and graduated from All Saints Central High School in 1974.  She also received her associate’s degree from Delta College.  Kasha worked at Terry & Jerry’s O`Sole Mio restaurant for twenty five years and was a member of the Bay Choral and Polish Pyros Fireworks Family.

     Surviving is her brother, Jerry (friend, Linda Robert) Graczyk, her sister, Mary Bernadette (Phil) Graczyk-Pollio and her nephew, John Paul Pollio.  Kasha was predeceased by her father, Gerald on April 1, 1963 and her mother, Bernadette on December 1, 2010.

     Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service for Kasha is being scheduled for the spring of 2011.

Bay City, Michigan

     Mrs. Gowan passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 86.  Dorothy was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan in 1924.  She was the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth (Byrne) Naumes, the ninth of ten children.  She was predeceased by her husband James in 1998.  She lived in Bay City over 45 years and was a member of St. James Church and Altar Society.  Dorothy graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1942.  She then attended Central Michigan University and graduated in Music.  She played the organ at Sacred Heart for many years.  After marrying and raising her loving family of five she kept up with her love of music on the piano.  In later years she had her own antique business which she really enjoyed.

     Dorothy is survived by five children: John P. and Kathy McGowan, Susan French, Pat and Bob Bartos, Tim and Lisa McGowan, and James C. and Lori McGowan, ten grandchildren: Blair, Colleen, Rich, Chris McGowan, Daniel French, Alex McGowan, Mark and Matthew Bartos, Patrick and Jeremy McGowan, several great grandchildren, one sister, Frances Bell and one brother, John Naumes, one brother in-law, Frank Courter, many nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was predeceased by three brothers: Joseph, Michael and Bernard Naumes, four sisters: Helen Webster, Gen Jones, Betty Courter, and Katie Loop and two sister in-laws, Emily Naumes and  Margaret Naumes.

     The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00am at Ambrose Funeral Home.  Nancy Rivet will officiate.  Private interment will be held in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. James Church or Grade School.

Bay City, Michigan

     Carol, age 68 passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at her residence.  She was born November 22, 1942 in Midland, Michigan to the late Walter and Mary (Tyslicki) Jackiewicz.  Carol married Robert K. Kukla, Sr. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Midland in 1964 and he predeceased her on June 24, 2001.  She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her beautiful grandchildren.   Carol was a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother and friend.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. 

     Surviving is her daughter, Barbara Nagy and her son, Robert (Stacy) Kukla, II, three grandchildren: Victoria, Ingrid, and Briar Kukla, and two sisters: Katherine Davis and Betty Eastman.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00am at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.  Fr. Richard M. Filary will celebrate Mass and graveside interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Tuesday after 10:00am.  Members of St. Stan’s Church will pray the Rosary Monday at 2:00pm, followed later by a Parish Vigil Service for Carol at 7:00pm.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Bay City, Michigan

     Jackie passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at her residence, age 77.  She was born February 14, 1933 in Bay City to the late Russell and Marie (Somalski) Garnett.  Jackie married Kenny V. DeLadurantaye in St. Joseph Catholic Church on May 26, 1959 and he predeceased her on January 9, 2010.  She was a member of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed cooking and bingo.

     Surviving are four children: Mark (Val) DeLadurantaye, Mary (Chris) Neville, Michael and Dale DeLadurantaye, four grandchildren: Kyle and Billy Neville, Jean-Luc and Andre` DeLadurantaye, one great grandson, Asher Neville, one sister, Kathy Garnett and one brother, Kenneth Garnett.  Jackie was predeceased by one son, Jeffrey, one great granddaughter, Matilda Neville and three brothers: Jerry, Jimmy, and Bobby Garnett.

     Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service for Jackie will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1:00pm at St. Patrick Cemetery Chapel.

Mr. Ahrens died Wednesday December 22, 2010 at the Bay Regional Medical Center age 85 years.  Son of the late George & Emma (Blohm) Ahrens he was born August 7, 1925 in Saginaw.  Lyle married the former Helen Osmus April 30, 1949 in Saginaw.  She survives him.  Mr. Ahrens served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 1^st Calvary Division and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts.  Lyle worked for the Saginaw News for 10 years and the Bay City Times for 30 years before retiring in 1985.  He was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene and was very active in the church including being a Greeter, Deacon, Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher and driving the church van for the children’s ministry.  Leading people to the Lord was Lyle’s lifelong mission and greatest joy. Lyle was a member of the DAV and the Purple Heart.

Surviving besides his wife Helen he leaves four children:  Lyle W. Ahrens Jr., Ronald L. (Mary) Ahrens, Cynthia (Jim) Opp, Paul (Nancy) Ahrens, six grandchildren: Ronnie (Shannon) Ahrens, Elizabeth, Steven, Brian Ahrens, Elizabeth Ahrens-Opp, Amber (Tim) Bauer, four great grandchildren: Daniel & Claire Ahrens, Noah & Ethan Bauer,one brother: Jim Hughes, several nieces, nephews and Lyle’s dog “Prince”.  He was predeceased by a granddaughter: Melissa Ahrens, his twin sister and her husband: Lillian (Wilmer) Bluemlein.

Funeral service will take place Tuesday December 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Faith Church of the Nazarene.  Rev. Dwight W. Kingsbury will officiate with burial in Elm Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Good Samaritan Rescue Mission or Faith Church of the Nazarene.
