John W. Reid

 Mr. Reid died Wednesday November 25, 2009 at the Bay Regional Medical Center age 64 years.  Son of the late William Loftin and Eva Jolly he was born September 14, 1945 in Henderson, N. Carolina.  He married the former Kathy Johnroe April 5, 2005.  She survives him.  Mr. Reid retired from G.M. Metal Fabricating Plant.  John was a member of Bay Valley Christian Church.  He enjoyed taking rides, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 Surviving besides his wife Kathy he leaves five sons; Tony (Brenda) Reid, Tim (Stacie) Reid, Michael (Stacy) Reid, Chris Johnroe, Mike Milam, seven grandchildren, many brothers in-law, sisters in-law and nieces and nephews.  John had some very special friends; Art & Peggy Wogoman, Dennis Lynch, Ron & Mary Greenway.  He was predeceased by his brother; Ted Reid.

 The family would like to thank Dr. C. Hasegawa and the staff at Bay Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care that was given to John.

 Funeral Service will take place Tuesday December 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Bay Valley Christian Church.  Pastor David Ferranti will officiate with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Monday from 3 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider family wishes.

Lila L. York

     yorkphotoOur loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009 at her residence, age 78 years.  Lila was born February 10, 1931 in Rochester, Michigan to the late Floyd and Helen (Russell) Shetler.  She married Norman T. Wilson and he predeceased her in 1983.  Lila later married Stanley York and he predeceased her in 1995.  She was a longtime member and former treasurer of Thorburn United Methodist Church.  Lila later joined Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at church, working in the garden and helping others in need.  She loved going to dinner, movies and was known for her great up-lifting personality.

     Surviving are six children; Larry Wilson, Danny (Sandy) Wilson, Janet (Dan) Weiss, Norman Wilson, Marsha Wilson, and Michael Wilson, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.  Lila was predeceased by a granddaughter, Stephanie Weiss.

     The Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 11:00am at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Pastor Keith Schroeder will officiate and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Monday after 10:00am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Dorothy J. Bridgewater

bridgewaterphoto Dorothy passed away peacefully with her children by her side on November 22, 2009 at Brian’s House, age 78 years. She was born May 10, 1931 in Sterling, MI to the late Harry and Frances (DuFort) Hobart.  Dorothy worked hard to support and raise her children with numerous jobs before retiring from Rays Food Fair in 1983.  She then became known as the “Craft Lady” after founding Granny’s Crafts.  She enjoyed creating many wood crafts and going to craft shows. 

Surviving are her four children, Mark (Karen), Michael, Matthew (Andrea) Bridgewater, and Mary (Steve) Anderson and a special niece, Sister Dorcee.  She was very proud of her 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 11:00am at the Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry, Bay City.  Rev. David Dunn will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00pm and Monday after 10:00am.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Brian’s House.

David M. Drzewicki “Jeetz”

David passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009 at his residence, age 58 years.  The son of Theodore F. and Dolores M. (Wongrowski) Drzewicki, he was born January 1, 1951 in Bay City.  He was a truck driver for many years and enjoyed camping, boating, and collecting lighthouses.  David was a huge Red Wings fan and loved polka music and jazz.

     Surviving is his mother, Dolores (Ron) Trombley, a sister, Susie (Gary) Mueller, brother, Todd Drzewicki, two step-brothers; Tim (Helen) Trombley and Greg Trombley, a sister in-law, Ann Drzewicki, a very special god-daughter, April Rondo, ex-wife, Geralyn Drzewicki, two nephews, four nieces, one great nephew, and David’s companion, his Yorkie, Robby.  David was predeceased by his father, Theodore Drzewicki, a brother, Michael Drzewicki and a step-brother, Ken Trombley.

      A Memorial Service for David will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 7:00pm at the Ambrose Funeral Home.  Linda Milco from St. James Church will officiate.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mid-Michigan Heart Savers or “Family Wishes.”

Frances Anne Traver

Bay City, Michigan passed away peacefully at Brian’s House on Thursday, November 19, 2009 after a long battle with cancer age 48 years.  Frances Anne Parent was born June 22, 1961 in Wichata Falls, Texas to the late Gerald Joseph and Betty Ann (DeLorge) Parent.  Fran was a 1980 graduate of Bay City All Saints and worked as a nurse assistant for 13 years at the Bay Medical Care Facility.  She was married to Sidney Ernest Traver on July 24, 1993 in St. John the Evangelist Church.  Fran was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Society, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary – Council 414.

 

Surviving besides her husband Sidney is a son and a daughter; Sidney Ernest, Jr. and  Elizabeth Margaret Traver, her step-mother; Eldine Parent, three brothers and five sisters; Alan Parent, Anna (Patrick) Ouellette, Mary (Joseph) Coughlin, Barbara Knoll, Paul Parent, Nona Strother, Margaret (Michael) Jackson, and John (Tracy) Parent.  Also surviving is her mother-in-law and father-in-law; Margaret Plouffe,  William Traver, her Godchild; Martha Coughlin-Hill, Godparents; Donald and Rosemary Pray, and many nieces and nephews.   Besides her parents she was predeceased by two brothers; Joseph and Jerry Joe and a niece Stephanie K. Mayberry.

 

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church.  Rev. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.  Members of the St. Anne Society will pray the rosary at 3:00 p.m. Sunday followed by a parish vigil for Fran at 6:00 p.m.  Those planning and expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes”.

Alice Kontranowski

     kontranowskicoverOur loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 87 years.  Alice was born January 10, 1922 in Bay City to the late Mike and Louise (Hanski) Pieczkowski.  She married Roman J. Kontranowski in St. Hyacinth Church on August 10, 1940 and he predeceased her on February 28, 1999.  She was a member of St. Hyacinth Church and the funeral luncheon committee.

     Surviving are three children; Jim (Marian) Kontranowski, Larry (Bernadette) Kontranowski, Jeanne (Rick) Brozewski, seven grandchildren; Mike (Kristin) and Jim (Liberty) Kontranowski, Dawn (Jeff) Bowman, Kevin (Stacy), Brian, Scott, and Marc Kontranowski, nine great grandchildren; Jordan, Brady, Ava, Kaden, Carter, Lawson, Chase, Kelsey, and Kendall, several nieces and nephews.  Alice was predeceased by two brothers.

     The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00am at St. Hyacinth Church.  Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will celebrate Mass and interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00pm and at church on Saturday after 9:00am.  A Parish Vigil Service for Alice will be held Friday at 6:00pm from the funeral home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to “Family Wishes.”
