Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the age of 77. She was born March 3, 1932 in Bay City to the late Floyd A. and Helen E. (Wisniewski) Shafer. Mary Ann was married to Eugene V. Siminski on November 28, 1953 at St. Hyacinth Church. She worked as an office clerk for many years with Sears in downtown Bay City and later retired from Draper Chevrolet. Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with family, her dogs; Snicker and Shadow and camping. She was a member of St. Hyacinth Church, the Rosary Society and St. Hyacinth Choir.
Surviving is her husband, Eugene and four children; Patti VanOchten, Cathi (James) Meldrum, Bill Siminski and Rick (JoAnn) Siminski. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren; Adam VanOchten, Chris (Danielle), Nick (his fiancé Kaytlyn) and Paul Meldrum, Sara (her boyfriend, Brandon), Sammy Jo, Garth and Devyn Siminski, and one great granddaughter, Kiera. Along with her immediate family she is survived by her three sisters; Marcia LeTourneau, Germaine (Leonard) Bayer and Joyce (Gary) Thompson. Mary Ann was predeceased by her daughter in-law, Florie Siminski; her sister, Nancy (Eugene) Zbroalski; her brother, Ben Shafer (Barb) and brother in-law, Louie LeTourneau.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 1:00pm at St. Hyacinth Church. Fr. Edward J. Konieczka will celebrate Mass and entombment will follow in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00 to 8:00pm and at church Tuesday after 12:00pm. Members of St. Hyacinth Rosary Society will pray the Rosary Monday at 2:00pm, and later followed by a Parish Vigil Service for Mary Ann at 7:00pm. Memorials for Mary Ann Siminski may be made to St. Hyacinth Renovation Fund or the American Cancer Society.
